Hey guys and gals -

Bought my Fiesta ST back in February, just now creating an account and posting for the first time. I've been reading the forums here for a few months now, learning a lot from you all. I purchased the 2014 Fiesta ST in ingot silver, moonroof, nav, and gray Rado wheels / red calipers. I really wanted to custom order to get the Recaro seats and no other features, but I'm too impatient to wait 2-3 months to get a new car. I've got not complaints so far! :)

So far I've added the Cobb Accessport V3 and running the v102 Stage 1 91 Octane map, Cobb drop-in air filter, St all-weather floor mats from Ford, Weathertechs, and tinted windows. The company I went to screwed up the tint job so I'm gettning it redone (darker) at another shop this Saturday. I have a Cobb RMM on order as well as the 2JRacing catted downpipe. I plan on adding the Cobb cold air intake as well whenever they finally release it, but I'm not sure if I'll be doing any upgrades after that. Maybe some Sparco Assetto Gara rims at some point and better tires.

My one nagging question for all of you tuning experts... Do you think it's safe to run the Cobb stage 1 maps with catted downpipe and CAI, or is it necessary to get a custom tune through Cobb to account for the downpipe upgrade?

If anyone wants to know what cars I'm coming from, in order... 1991 Ford Tempo (auto), 1994 Nissan Sentra (5-speed), 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX (5-speed), 2000 VW Golf TDI (5-Speed), and now this! Man it's crazy going from 90/150 to 197/202.

Looking forward to chatting everyone up in the future.

91 Ford Tempo I think we had one of those for a while till Ford took it back as it would Stall at most red lights ... we called it the t@mp@x cuz it was red .. crude I know but it was the 90's

Thanks rodmoe, it's great to hear someone else is following a similar tuning path and hasn't blown the engine yet :) I mean, if it was really necessary to get a tune, there's a Cobb facility down in Portland, it's only about a 3 hour drive from where I live. I've been kinda wondering for a while why Cobb didn't decide to add a downpipe to any of their stages. They only add a catback in Stage 3, but not the downpipe, right? I'm also kind of confused as to why so many people upgrade the intercooler. I'd think that would only really be necessary if you installed a larger turbo.

Yes no Boom from me and I hope never it is such a PITA Last I heard was Stage 2 from COBB will need a FMIC upgrade but since it is not out yet who knows till its out. Not sure what Stage 3 will entail but I am guessing exhaust of some sort..
I got the parts as a fair price for being a early adopter and working thru the delays and install learnig curves associated with new product.. I will be honest after have the car on a track it runs out of steam on the top end after 4th gear , It pulls yet but not like I think it could so I am looking at a ATP or ?? Turbo upgrade for next summer maybe.. I will say it is fun working on a car that is not all rust amd grease like a few of my older "project cars" LOL

I stand corrected, I thought I remembered reading somewhere that Cobb just planned a catback exhaust from Stage 3 but all I've been able to find today is adding turboback in Stage. Makes more sense to me that way anyway. I was blowing too much money back in 2006, fresh out of college, buying and working on the 2002 WRX. Couldnt afford a "real" one back then so I bought one that was 4 years old with 155k! miles on it. Did the catless upipe and downpipe, heat-wrapped, and if I'd known more about Cobb back then I probably would have spent a lot more money. Year and a half later and I decided to be practical and get the 2000 VW Gold TDI. Obviously wasn't as fun but I was doing mostly freeway driving back then anyway and it's hard to argue with 40+ MPG when you have a heavy foot like I do. I guess I just missed the fun of driving the WRX and had never had a new car anyway, so I started doing research and when I came across the FiST it felt like fate :) Now I just need to work hard to keep money in my wallet!

The good thing is the FiST mods are much cheaper than the WRX haha. Welcome!
