Grinding sound in 2nd and 3rd

I have had the car now for about two weeks now, and it has right at 600 miles on it. I have not done any mods what so ever, but I am noticing a grinding sound when I go into 2nd and 3rd gear, doesn't really matter what RPM I shift at. I'm not sure what it is, but after the clutch as been completely let out it just sounds like something is grinding even though I am fully in gear. It started out pretty quiet and has gotten progressively louder, not loud enough to hear over the radio yet, but just wanted to see if this is normal (can't see how that sound would be normal), something others are experiencing or if this is an issue that I need to take to the dealership.

Any info would be appreciated!

Matt

Take it to the dealer as soon and you can work it out this is not normal since you have not done anything to the car Right ? it is bone stock no Mods ?
If they say it is normal then you are good if not they will take care of it for you ..

Correct, the car is bone stock. I have to take it back because they didn't put the tint on a couple of windows right, so I will for sure ask them to look at it when it goes back in to have that re-done. I was just curious if anyone else had noticed this at all or had the same problem.

Thanks for the info!

Hi Matt,

The Fiesta actually has a break-in period of 1000 miles. Page 157 of your Owner Guide states
Brakes and Clutch
WARNING
Avoid heavy use of the brakes and clutch if possible for the first 100 miles (150 kilometers) in town and for the first 1000 miles (1500 kilometers) on freeways.
Engine
WARNING
Avoid driving too fast during the first 1000 miles (1500 kilometers). Vary your speed frequently and change up through the gears early. Do not labor the engine.
And on page 15 of the ST supplement, it says:
BREAKING-IN
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break–in. Try not to drive continuously at the same speed for the first 1000 miles (1600 kilometers) of new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the moving parts a chance to break in.
Do not add friction modifier compounds or special break–in oils since these additives may prevent piston ring seating
If the symptoms persist once you're out of the break-in period, please reach out to me so I can dig a little deeper. I recommend heading to your dealer for a diagnosis either way.

Thank you for the reply! I have been taking it very easy on the car and have been adamant about doing a proper break in with the car. I will for sure contact you if I am still hearing the same sounds here in another 400 miles or so. I will be taking the car back next week to have them redo the tint and will have them look at it then.

I took my car in yesterday for this issue and am hoping to hear something back about it today. I will update when I know something!
