I was bug fan of world speed challenge racing, then... It was like Caddy bought the GT class and Mazda/Honda bought the Touring car class ( oddly, who ever sponsored that race that weekend, ended up winning most the time ).

Yesterday, I got a chance to watch some new prelii (or what ever) world speed challenge racing and it looked pretty good. Awesome mix of cars.

Check it out
Www.world-challengetv.com

Anyway... In the touring car class.... NO TURBO FOCUS, NO TURBO FIESTAS !! Mazda miatas, civic Si, nissan altimas !!! In the slower touring car class ( B-spec ) they had one fiesta, I'm pretty sure a 14 year old boy drives it. But its not an ST (maybe a 3 cylinder turbo? I'm not sure).

Just seems like ford would be all over this... Unless... The focus is too fast for the class and the fiesta would have to be "too restricted" to get a fair shake.

Back when honda/mazda owed the wsc racing series, a few SRT4's were fielded, but they had to run a restrictor before AND AFTER the intercooler to slow them down, while the mazdas/hondas had full on race car gear boxes and giant full race intake manifolds and enjoy'd a huge weight advantage over the srt4 and wrx.

So maybe Ford figures that since its "who ever plays the most wins", they just assume not race? Anyone else know the story or have an idea/theory ?

Comes down to politics Ford dose not show the FoST or FiST as much attention as they should, and when it comes to road racing they put all their eggs in one basket and that basket has a Pony Badge!! The other problem is Fords Euro American division cant support these cars racing over here. Not enough inventory or product knowledge, I work at Ford and im surprised how many people don't even know the difference between a ST and a base model...including Salesman. The problem is these cars have only been out a short amount of time in the states, where on the other side of the universe in the UK they are now on 7th gen of Fiesta, and have had some serious RS division wins. If our cars end up in a Touring car race it wont be from the states it will be a Euro division. I talked with a very high up Ford rep 2 months ago and he said that this ST experiment in the states is exactly that...a Experiment. They are completely ok and willing to drop the ST line if it cant prosper here like it dose in the Euro market. With the lack of P.R. and model support they really deserve it could happen that way it cuts their allocation cost. On a Angry note I have watched a sales person tell a customer that the FiST was nothing more than a Base Fiesta with a body kit and new seat covers. If there is this much of a break down at STEP#1 when a uneducated or ignorant salesman cant do his job and sale these cars for what they are and get consumers excited about the product then we have a bigger problem then getting them in a race series. I hope im wrong but I wouldn't get my hopes up about us seeing the 9th and 10th gen FiST coming to the states!

Preach on, before I bought my FiST a sales person wanted me to drive a base model automatic and said it would be able to give me a good idea what the car would be like. I recognize that the mustang has been a very successful car but I wish Ford would recognize that as a brand they are dated. The ST line breathes new life into their lineup and is nothing more than a tool to get younger buyers in their vehicles.

Heck I get more questions/gawks from Ford employees when I take her in for service than when i'm on the road. They really seem to not know a lot about the car at all.

They also seem dis-pleased with the fact they have to work on them that is prob compounded by the fact they mostly have no idea WTF is going on under the hood, unless it gives them a code that leads them DIRECTLY to the issue. You get what you pay for with techs.
