With the growing numbers of new members, and owners of the Fiesta ST here on the forum, I though it would be a good time to introduce Team Dynamics wheels.

Since 2009, I have been selling Team Dynamics wheels to Ford based internet forum members via a group buy listings. There are a few really good reasons for the longevity. First of course is the Team Dynamics wheels themselves, second is the flexibility afforded by Team Dynamics when ordering wheels, third the pricing for premium alloy wheels, and last but not least, Perfect Circle Autosport.

Team Dynamics is the motorsport division of Rimstock Plc, the UK's largest OEM wheel supplier. Rimstock manufactures wheels for these brands:







Team Dynamics offers premium alloy and forged wheels available in a wide range of fitments. Unique in the world of aftermarket wheels is the ability to order one, or a million and one wheels in any size, color, and offset available in the ranges offered by Team Dynamics. With Perfect Circle Autosport, you do not need to wait for a minimum buy number (as in a traditional group buy), and you will receive full access to the UK factory's capabilities. All Team Dynamics wheels are manufactured in the UK.



Most notable of the wheels offered by Team Dynamics is the Pro Race line. Very few wheels in this price range can boast true on road testing as well as race testing. The Pro Race 1.2 is the top seller being a premium alloy, low pressure cast, heat treated, and shot peened wheel, with a large range of fitments available. All cast Team Dynamics wheels are of the same build as the Pro Race 1.2, however the range of fitment is much smaller. What is also important to note is a low pressure casting that is heat treated and shot peened makes for a very strong wheel. Low pressure casting is an OEM staple. Car manufacturers do not want to have to replace wheels. Heat treatment is typically not included in aftermarket cast wheels. Lastly, the shot peen creates an outer wheel surface "skin", necessary to reduce micro fractures which weaken wheels over time or worse, lead to larger cracks.

Team Dynamics Pro Race wheels can be found being used notably in the BTCC, WTCC, other Touring Car championships around the globe, including weekend warriors and street enthusiasts. Team Dynamics is also the sole forged wheel supplier for the wildly popular Australian V8 Supercar series.

Heat treatment is typically not included in aftermarket cast wheels, which it should be as it assists in the granular alignment and reduction of voids in the casting, making for increased strength.
Great product, I hope you don't mind a little correction from a materials and process (metallurgical) engineer:

Heat treatment of aluminum alloys does nothing for "granular alignment and reduction of voids". I believe you are thinking of HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing). Heat treatment precipitates out secondary particles in the aluminum matrix which locks the atomic lattice structure, reducing tendencies to grain boundary slip during applied loading. This precipitation hardening increases Ultimate and Yield Strength of the casting, and reduces the percentage elongation.

Forging a wheel aligns grains parallel to the forging direction, casting, even low pressure casting creates random grain orientation.

FYI, some aluminum alloys are not even heat treatable. I do not know which alloy your supplier uses, but there are several alloy series that are heat treatable.

Shot peening creates a layer with compressive stresses which are negative stresses to counteract, somewhat, the tensile stresses on the wheel during loading. It is not like forging. It is this compressive stress that increases the time before fatigue cracks form.

Not at all. Some years ago I was obviously misinformed. Surprisingly it took until today to be properly informed. I do sincerely appreciate you addressing this.
