Mishimoto J-Line vs Cobb FMIC

any people buy the Mishimoto one or is it better to just get the Cobb one?

Did see somewhere the mishimoto one has some things you have to do to make it fit right?

The mishi is universal definitely not a direct fit and will need some work to make it fit. It's a solid cooler though. The Cobb is a direct fit but kind of pricey. I am waiting for the panda tr6 treadstone, in my experience TR cores are ice boxes and the price will be very competitive judging from their Focus ST cooler.

Probably just a trim here or there on the bumper plastic no biggie, the mounting points and the elbows are all Fiesta specific from the looks of it.
Throw are the things that will keep me away. I don't cutting. Haha.

Yea same with me I think you were trying to say you dont like cutting things I like perfect fit so ill just go for the Cobb FMIC

The Mishi J-Line takes some work to fit but it is a big IC and great for hard core use, mine did a superb job going all out lap after lap at MMP, 130 MPH in a 3rd,4th, 5th gear pull at least 80 times in two days and the temps were great, I have to go look it up again.

BUT, my track weight is very low and a bit to low in the rear so I had to keep the tank nearly full when hitting the brakes at 130 at the last moment possible. I need to lose more weight on the front of the car so likely selling my J-Line and downsizing a bit to the Cobb.

Since installing a bigger radiator next, have an oil cooler, fully opened up grill and bumper, heat sheilded piping where needed. I think I will be fine with the Cobb, hope so.

I am also most likely getting a CF hood though want it painted.

I am setting up the car for TT events and the class I most likely will be in requires I do all I can to be competitive, I do not want to take out any of my fun mods for a lower class even if I am better off there, not as much fun going a bit slower:)

So, the J-Line is great, takes more work, costs much less and weighs more but it will handle as much power as you will probably ever make out of this engine unless go nuts on a giant turbo, built engine, etc........and then probably still plenty of IC. Or, live in the south, humid weather....then this might be the best even on a tuned stock turbo or cyborg turbo.

Thanks for the info really helps in my decision. What CF hood were you looking at?

Seibon is the only one I have seen, the regular Fiesta is supposed to fit I have heard but I am considering RS vents for cooling reasons and they are going to make that one it seems.

I probably do not need vents so if I find a deal on a blem hood, etc....I can go that route.

I have a ton of cooling mods done and a Mishi radiator to install next as well as a big duct on my undertray what directs air up to the DP area and causes a bit of a venturi effect to pull more heat out of the engine bay, it does a great job.

Thanks, I did see that, not a terrible price but painting can get spendy.....and I am about 3 times over budget on this car already:)

I just chuckled to myself a bit about you saying way "over budget"...I promised myself I wouldn't do this again on this car and here I go again! LOL

I pulled a torn apart 318ti I had ready for a complete rebuild, 300HP S52, around a $40k project off my lift and put the ST on to do a few minor tweaks to it. I just wanted something fun and ready to hit the road in the back of our trailer, 7 months and a HUGE mod list later, still modding though finally driving it the last weeks or so...if you have not seen it check out my build thread, pretty intense but has been and still is great fun:)

Thanks for the post! Other posters are correct in stating that the Mishimoto J line is a universal item. While it may take a little modification to fit into the Fiesta ST, this intercooler should have no problems handling any power goal up to 500whp!

I have used many Mishimoto products on several builds including had the radiator for a $$$$$$$$$$ monster LS/E36M3 hard core build, great stuff, great prices:)

I definitely would be down for an upgraded radiator. Made a few trips to Vegas in the heat and I didn't feel like the radiator could keep up. BTW, just received my J-Line yesterday. Might be a while before I can get it installed, but it looks and feels like a quality piece.
