What are you guys seeing on the Cobb ap as far as temps. Please post avg speed, ambient and temp seen. I'm trying to gather info on a condition with our rads. Mine hovers Round 200-205 at 80-85mph in 50 degree temps.

I posted before noticing the part about rads, skipped over it...hope this is of some use to you.

I am seeing 198 or so but that is a wide open grill, oil cooler, etc.....I am considering putting in a real gauge for the track if what I heard is true that is is inferred, not actual temp.

I only drive out to make tuning runs, get's to about 180 on the way there, 198 tops right after a run, back to 188 when I get home. I am thinking of blocking the cooler for the winter. It it has been in the 30-47 degree range here during the warmer part of the day or when making runs earlier.

I have a Mishimoto radiator now and have not seen any change in the oil temps but not reading coolant temps as need to log to many other things.

As we all know there is a flaw in some radiators that will over pressurize the system. Im looking at coolant temps to see if there is a link.

~190 cruising 6th gear, most ever was ~215, 3 dyno pulls in a row
Max temp where you live? I cruise at 80-85 and my temps are in the 200 up range when it 90 degrees or so outside.

I drive the speed limit or 5 over most of the time, out here on the freeway, I am going 70 or 75 at the most.

We are deciding to either take just the ST or tow it on an open trailer or haul it in our really big trailer to CA for a week, or two, or three, I can report back what I find either way, if we haul it we will use it there for daily transportation and maybe a track day.

I did not ask for temps but I know the stock ST's at the Octane Academy have no cooling issues on track, 20minutes or so, all out, even on very hot days because I asked the shop manager about it specifically.

They had to make serious mods to the Focus ST to handle the heat.

Exactly. The problem is some ST's came with a bad radiator.

Yes around 80 degrees cruising outside, in heat like 90+ I have seen 205 in bumper to bumper traffic, but it comes down below 200 quickly when the fan kicks in.

Anyone know when the ECU starts to pull timing/boost, close the throttle to reduce power?.

I'll try to remember to check it for you next time I open my laptop :)

Its 210 if I remember correctly. But let me check first.

Usually 185-190 on coolant, but oil can go from 185-210 when cruising at 75mph. Probably not too high for oil but seems to climb up above 200 quickly when getting up to speed

Another words, the more and more you go above 200 degrees, the more and more timing gets pulled.

This is a "multiplier", so its not like a 1 to 1 ratio obviously. Not like you have 50 degrees of timing to lose at 250 degrees F.

If you were at the track, and just doing 1/4 mile sprints, you could get rid of this and it would lend a bit more timing, but not much at all unless your seeing 225 degrees type coolant temps, and in that case, you prob want power and cylinder pressures reduced.

Me personally, I've never edited these, and prob never will. My climate is so hot, i need all the compensations I can get for when stuff gets hot.

I did move up the charge air temp timing reduction JUST A BIT while at the 1/4mile track, but otherwise, I assume ford did things like this for a reason.

Really? I didn't know that. Was that for the fist or the frost? Any links to read about. This is the 1st i heard about bad radiators.

I haven't seen any hot running out of mine, though I just recently got an AP. But no coolant smells or odd behavior. I drive about 30 miles each way daily, and don't baby the car either. Sitting idle on a hot day, it may peak around 210, I'll watch it as the weather warms up again, but I didn't have any issues last summer. Mine is an early build too, built July of 2013.

Edit: holy dead thread Batman! wasn't paying attention to dates...
