Should I do it?

Hello all.
As my FiST is strictly daily driver that I like to still have fun with, I am really missing my full stereo from my last car. I have a full comp stereo from Kenwood Excelon. I can't decide if I just want to purchase some shallow 8" subs and a small profile amp and tap into the rear speaker wires to add the sub (with a line out converter). I would have the subs and amp under the cargo cover over the spare. Or should I go all out and swap over my whole stereo?
2-Kenwood Excelon 12" carbon glass 2000w subs
pair of Excelon components
pair of Excelon coaxils
pair of Excelon tweeters
Excelon mono amp
excelon 4 channel amp
I plan on keeping the MFT

I know the 12s will take up the whole hatch (already test fitted the box) but I really miss my range with that stereo.
If I go all out, I will be utilizing the stock wiring for the most part (making my connections behind the HU so I don't have to run new wire to all the speakers)

new 8" subs and amp and custom box, I'm looking at about $500

If I go all out, I'm looking at under $100

What do yall recommend?

Personally for me, I would not want to add that much weight to my car and lose all the storage. I bought my Fiesta as a mini performance car and extra weight impacts acceleration and handling, so in my books, not something I would do. I didn't order a sun roof for the same reason, extra weight up high on the car.
I don't see the Fiesta as a very good platform to add a high end stereo.

fair enough. I had this stereo in my SVT focus and it was amazing.
I am not the type to go to audio competitions or anything like that. I'm just stripping apart my focus to make it a dedicated autox and track car and can't sell the radio. too much sentimental value to it, hence why i was thinking of the install.
it would be a lot of weight added to it. but i don't truly need the storage. my girl has a suv and i will be getting a truck in the next couple years (new home owner).

I'm all for you swapping out all the stock speakers with better ones, but two 12" subs in the back is a bit much not to mention all that added weight. A single 10" is more than sufficient if done correctly.

I hear the FiST does well with a sub added in the hatch as far as sound. I personally wouldn't go more than one 10 or 12 considering the size of the car.

thanks for the input. i'm still undecided. i just know that added the 2 12s would be the more cost effective (even though it might be overkill) than adding 8's. I am building out my svt so i don't want to drop a ton of cash (relatively) on the stereo for the FiST.

I currently have a single 10" sub in my SVT and it does sound amazing but doesnt have the same "punch" I had before.

Weight truly isn't a concern with me in the Fiesta. But i also don't want to have it start rattling like crazy from trim work shaking loose and whatnot.

I will be working on a design for a single up firing 12(ten for those that prefer it) that fits inside the flipped spare tire that should weigh in less than 20 lbs and get it on very well in this little hatch car, more bass than it would produce would not really be needed by anybody that wants to have their brain stem remain intact:)

I might change that or offer two versions as a compact aluminum rim spare can save around half the weight over the stock spare and leave room for the amp and or processor as needed.

It will be a month or so before I can get to this as two road trips in a row I have to take, one I am on right now.

You could use your subs in your house, I have four ID 15's and two 1900 watt pro audio class H amps in mine:)

hahaha i like that idea... but i already have a nice 7.1 surround in the house in the media/game room.

i think i am going to end up with the 2 12s...
unless i take the 10" out of the svt then i could throw it in the FiST.
just trying to do it the most cost effective way.

i do miss my vision blurring bass... but as stated, i don't want all the trim work to rattle (and i don't want to have to add sound deadening material everywhere)

edit:
it would be amazing for there to be a "sub-thump" type enclosure to fit around the inner fender, but it looks like it would be a custom job. hmm

it barely fits.. but i did it.

so I wired everything up and installed them yesterday.
not going to stay with the 2 12s more than likely.
looks like I am going to build a custom box for my shallow 10" so i can mount it above the spare but under that parcel shelf thing.

so far.. the install didn't cost me a dime.
