Mileage reporting overly optimistic

This apparently happens across all EcoBoost engines. I'd be willing to bet money that this was a calculated decision by Ford.

Does anyone know if one could use AccessTuner to recalibrate that calculation? So that the display is accurate?

I saw that article as well. How far off is your displayed MPG? Mine hasn't been off by more than 1.2 or so in the 5500 miles I've driven.

LOL, I don't know about you guys but I didn't but the Ecoboost for fuel economy! But I can understand why Ford marketed it that way to the normal car buyer.

Yeah, I'm not super worried about mileage either but think it's just odd that is overly optimistic across the board. Seems like a simple thing to fix so I bet it's intentional.

I get as advertised when I want to. Terrain plays a big role in the mielage people will see.

I noticed this first fill up since I got the car. I thought the computer would adapt to it. But it never did.

However... does not concern me much as airjor stated already. I didn't buy this car for fuel mileage. AND it consumes half of what my old BMW did

Terrain, and speed and your right foot... I did recently drive my father-in-law's ecoboost F-150 and it was reading a bit low on the fuel economy not a whole lot better than the V6 one he had before that.

Fuel economy is calculated at what speed? I thought it was at ~60 mph. If I keep it under 70mph I can hit 35-37mpg on the stock tune.

Mine seems to be pretty accurate but then again i dont reset the avg mpg everytime i fill up.

My hand calculations are within 5% of the computer. I fill up at the same station most of the time too. I average ~28-29 mpg with 75% Chicago city 25% hwy.

So like all my exes said, I'm pretty average.

I don't see how you guys get that kind of mileage numbers. I have a short commute (<5 miles) and the best I get is 21 to 22. Probably because I always push it from light to light and don't have any highway time to cruise at higher speeds.

But I didn't get the FiST for the mileage, if I'd wanted that I would stayed in the SE. At least it gets better than my mustang did which was about 15!

Short trips will definitely do that to your mileage. It's not awesome for the car either.

For me, the car is just a blast to drive. If i'd have wanted mileage, I would have bought a regular fiesta or other such commuter car. I mean, really, why in the world would someone buy a performance car and then worry about their mpg? I'm happy every time I hit the gas, mileage be damned.

For people that commute like I do, this car is a perfect mix of fun and practicality. I worry about MPG because I don't want to be filling up my gas tank every 3 days. It's really hard to not like decent mileage during the weekdays and something you can romp the hell out of on the weekends. The FiST is amazing.

For me, lower mileage than other Fiesta ST in similar operating parameters could mean something isn't quite right. I worry about my baby.

I commute 50 miles round trip m-f. I have a personal rule, I don't hot rod around anytime to or from work. every other time I drive it's fair game. That being said I average 29-30 mpg commuting and 25-26 the rest of the time.

But when I just paid $26 for a 91 fill up yesterday... who gives a crap. When oil companies battle, my right foot wins!

If you run an ethanol blend, some settings have to be adjusted in Accesstuner to make the MPG read correctly. I don't personally know, but the tuner who did mine mentioned it in a thread.

When I go to my cottage (80km trip with about 60km freeway), I cruise at 2500 rpm in sixth, and thats smack at 65 mph or like 105km/h.

I get, depending of temperature, 5.7 to 6.2 L/100km.

Thats between 41.3 mpg to 37.9 mpg. I get that every, single, time.

Full tank of 87 oct gas, 185/60/r15 winter tires and only me in the car.

Although I must agree, the mpg's drop drastically when city driving. It drops to about 8.2 L/100km or 28.7 mpg for me.
