So this basically sits on top of the lockout, and let's a normal shift knob tighten down to it?

This should work for shifter extensions too right?

This is very similar to a piece I designed and built some time ago.
I could never get enough interest on the Fiesta forums to have them produced.
Glad to see they have finally have been made.

I believe it slides down into the lockout adapter

A user on another forum is using a shifter extension without any issues. See post here - http://www.fiestast.org/forum/fiesta-st-appearance/3999-reverse-lockout-adapter-finally-here.html

Also he stated that we can purchase this cheaper adapter, it does fit with our car (it's the one he is using) http://www.torquesolution.com/product-p/ts-uni-027.htm

That was my post on the other forum, mcummings182. Thanks for the link. This is an alternative to the other shift extensions out there. Shout out to JCPG for finding the bend shifter extender extension on ebay.

Here is what my setup looks like:

Shift lever extension from ebay $18.31
http://www.ebay.com/itm/281184508562?item=281184508562&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:OC:US:3160&vxp=mtr

Reverse lockout adapter from Torque Solutions $15.99
http://www.torquesolution.com/product-p/ts-uni-027.htm

SickSpeed Shift ball, black with red shift pattern. $40.44
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P9DWFFG/ref=pe_385040_127745480_TE_item

This mod moves the shift ball up and backward, and allows the use of any type of shift ball, as long as it has a M12 x 1.25 thread. I really like the way this mod feels and looks. The reverse lockout adapter goes inside the lockout mechanism, not outside as others do. This makes it look smaller and not as bulky as others. The bent shift lever comes with 2 very thin jam nuts, one can be used at the base of the extension, to lock its location, and the other can be used for the shift ball.

The unit that I use like the one from Speeddawg, screws down onto the OE shaft.
It is also works as a jam nut to index a knob with a logo or shift pattern.
This works great for those that do NOT want an extended shaft that defeats the purpose of any short shifter mods.

The adaptor from Torquesolutions seems to work great for those that DO want a shaft extension.

With both types of adaptors available, now all can be satisfied.

The reverse lockout adapter from Torque solutions can also be used by itself, without the shift lever extension, and also serves as a jam nut. It is the least expensive option I have found, other than a washer and a jam nut.

But not cheaper than the $2.00 worth of scrap aluminum that mine cost. :)
OK, maybe the washer would be cheaper.
