Hey everyone! I am in the market for a new car and the fiesta ST fills all my requirements (good mpg, performance since I want to start getting into and enjoying my car rather than just hand me downs, and a price that just barely fits my budget) and have been lurking this and other forums for a couple months now gathering as much info as I possibly can. So the one thing that I have come across that is the most concerning is build/shipping times. I graduate college in May from a midwestern college and then will travel back to Mass for the summer until I need to go down to Texas for grad school. This time frame gives me only 10 weeks in Mass which isnt a lot of time compared to the shipping times I have heard around and I NEED it before I travel south to be able to break it in before the road trip. Looking at the stock of the dealers near my home no one has my choice of color and options (which I am not going to budge on). With all of this in mind, my questions are as follows.

How should I go about this? I was going to schedule a test drive at school when I get a chance because no one has one Ill have to travel to try one. After the test drive and confirm that its what I want(not worried there) should I call a dealer in MA before I graduate so they can get the order started? Or could I order one here in the midwest and then have them ship it back to Mass (I dont have the down payment, father is going to help with that as a grad present). Im pretty lost as to how I can make sure I have time to break it in before putting about 1900 miles in one trip. Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

Test drive asap. If you order now you are looking at June. I ordered Feb 6th and ETA at dealer of May 14th. You order next week and looking at mid June. Don't worry about break in and your trip. As long as you don't do the same speed for hours and mix it up a bit you will be fine. Good luck!

Have the dealer do a wider area search, it may be a little harder, but there's nothing really stopping them from trading cars with any dealer across the country. They may want a bigger deposit, but if it's that important to you, meh.

Also, Look on Ford's website, they have a really nice search function. If you add your contact info, a dealer that has or that can get the car you want will contact you. you can expand the radius from any zip as far as you want.
