Engine oil level above max mark on dipstick

My car was oil changed last week.
I checked the dipstick yesterday (parking outside whole night), just found the oil level above max mark around 5mm( drowning that small triangle).

Is this likely to do any damage to engine?[confused]

Did you measure the engine hot or cold? dead level or was the car on an incline?

I don't know about this car but in any other vehicle I have had a little too much oil no damage was ever done.

Lastly I always measure 3 times cleaning the stick each time just to be sure.

I measure that both cold and hot without incline. (the picture I posted was cold). I measured it over 5 times........still over max.......... [bigcry]

Its perfectly ok. If you were an inch up the stick I would go back, but you have about 300ml overfill, so it is nothing to worry about.

Not to make you worried, but I believe somewhere in the manual it says that an overfilled engine can cause engine damage! In truth, though, like blurred said, you're so little over the full mark I wouldn't even worry about. But, if it bothers you, take it back to where the oil change was done.

Mine is similar to yours. I'm not worried about it. I did full synthetic and for the life of me could not read the dang dipstick when the oil was brand new! Seriously, held the dipstick under a LED light and could not read it. I hate the dipsticks in these cars.

If you guys are having such trouble reading the dipstick, try the ol' napkin trick!

Just dab the dipstick on a flat paper towel or something, spin the dipstick away from the dab and it'll tell you the level. Seems crude but works in a pinch.

The added pressure under WOT or hard driving can blow out the seals, but I've never had it happen and I've had it overfilled before by 3rd parties. Now I just take my car to Ford and they always get it right. I have a good dealer.

Like CriticalmassGT said, it can blow a seal. Little did I know a quick change place overfilled me. The level was about a half inch above the top level. Long story short, when it's over-filled, the oil can't drain from the turbo, and with the added pressure it kills the seal and causes an oil leak into your exhaust.

so I recently bought a 2016 fiesta st I did an oil change at 4000 miles using mobile 1 full synthetic. my car now has 5000 miles on it I checked the oil today and also checked to make sure the vehicle didn't have any blow by in the top end. I removed the oil cap while the engine was running and put my hand over where the oil cap would be. and I did in fact feel some pressure coming through. I don't run the car hard and I was just wondering if this was normal. im very concerned about this and was wondering if anyone else has ran into / heard of this before. a response would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Seriously!? I was freaking the heck out. I was always told there should be little to absolutely 0 blow by. I also noticed that when I pulled the cap very very faint white steam was coming from the cap. Is that normal as well?
