Mini Cooper Diverter valve spacer on fiesta st

Hello everyone i thought Id post my little project i did yesterday. I read on a youtube video that some of the mini cooper "bov spacers" fit our fiestas. So i thought id give it a whirl the unit only cost me like $33 shipped, so here is what i found.

So heres the unit itself looks basically identical to the boomba unit except for the ports.


Heres where im not feeling to confident and maybe someone with the boomba unit installed can shed some light. The mini cooper unit wont sit flush unless i push it down which leads me to believe i may just be pissing boost out the whole time i dont know.

If I remember correctly the Boomba had orings and sat flush without pressing down. I do remeber it kept falling out until I could get one of the bolts started. I tried a BOV similar to that one on my Abarth and found the 3 ports where actually too small and restricting airflow causing some drivability issues with the tune I had.

Check their install.

Does this mean a Mini Cooper diverter valve will fit? As in, we wouldn't need a block-off plate, and we could recirc in the stock location?

Im interested to see if other boomba users got theirs to sit flush as well. Hijinx i am unsure if there valves will fit. But i just typed in mini cooper bov adapter in ebay and it popped up unsure of what years

Quite interesting. I recall having to hold my boomba valve with my finger until I got on screw in most of the way to keep it from falling while installing it. It would push out a little if I took my finger off of it.

So you had had to push the valve down a bit too. Thats kinda Reassuring. I have been having no driveability problems since install but i wonder if this will cause premature wear on the actual solenoid

Are you currently driving with this BOV installed? If you are I would venture to guess it is working. If it were in fact pushing the solenoid you would probably see a boost leak.

I have about 40 miles so far on this set up no problems seen so far. I dont have any gauges to check the system. Im more or less concerned this will cause premature wear on the dirverter but seeing as the boomba guys are saying theirs did not sit flush without being pushed down. I would be curious to see what the boomba guys themselves have to say on this.

I'll have to go and re-visit my BOV adapter and take it back off. That way I can see how it looks after so many miles and to see if the stock bits are looking alright.

Hey guys, sorry about taking so long to report back. I went ahead and finally jacked my car up with my shiny new toy.




I when I removed the bolts they were in decent condition so I was happy, although I may order some replacements. Just to be safe seeing as they are cheap and it's good to have spare bits lying about.
From there I took off the adapter and to my surprise I seemed to have found some oil on it. Or what looks like oil to me. Is there supposed to be that much on it? Or is it maybe due to some moisture getting back into the turbo or something?
This is my first turbo so I don't truly know, but I suspect this is normal as the turbine has to be lubricated to function right?



After cleaning off the oil I looked at the O-ring. I was slightly concerned as it seems that during its use part of the o-ring was crushed. I don't think it's bad enough to warrant a replacement, but I figured you guys will want to know. So here is the picture.




After inspection I cleaned it back up and put it back in. This time I was prepared with the proper tools and it took so much less time than before to get that fooker back in.
Once installed I did a quick little trip to be sure it was back in properly. So far so good and no leaks or anything of the sort. If this helps reassure some people of the quality of this product then all the better. I still love this thing and I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.

Oil is normal by most ppls standards. A few have posted this as well and I have noted a little as well.
