The name is Scott. I live in Portland and have worked at Horizon Airlines as an aircraft mechanic for a little over a year. I don't get paid THAT well, but, ya know, enough to put away for retirement, make payments on a new car, pay the bills yada yada. I work the night shift 4 days a week, 10 hours a day so sleep is lacking.
Bought a tuxedo black '15 FiST on April 1st (no joke) w/ Simoniz Glasscoat, clear bra and teflon treated interior. I'm pretty ecstatic about the purchase considering the vehicles I have driven in the past. '04 (gutless) Tacoma, '93 Chevy Caprice Classic wagon, '96 Grand Cherokee, '01 Forester. I am not completely illiterate when it comes to cars, just somewhat so I figured this is the best place to look to educate myself and get some tips when it comes to owning a brand new car. From what I've seen on Youtube, working on the FiST seems no harder than working on a Bombardier Q400 and certainly a lot cleaner.
So, to start things off, I have some initial questions that I hope can be answered as I can't seem to get a straight answer from the dealer body shop and I am as I have previously stated, somewhat uneducated when it comes to owning, maintaining or modifying a vehicle.
The body shop told me that because the paint has been treated with Simoniz there was nothing I had to do to the paint but spray it down with the hose and take a microfiber towel to it if I was inclined to do so. I was skeptical before and am clearly skeptical now. How do I care for the Glasscoat? Can I treat it the same as without? Was it REALLY worth the money? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX5bKrorIXA
Any tips for taking care of the clear bra?
Are there any immediate parts or otherwise that I should look into?
Looking forward to meeting you!!
