FMIC Question

Seems as if Cobb is one of the better choices for FMIC but I ready somewhere to use different charge pipes (if thats what you call them) because cobbs aren't that good. If anyone could help me out that would help

Didn't know that. I went with ATP intercooler and hot pipe. So far no issues.

Okay so is that what someone was saying not use the cobbs ones ?
I'm not 100% sure as I've never heard anything bad about any vendors IC pipes. Only that pretty much all are just decoration if you're on the stock turbo.

I replaced and upgraded to both COBB FMIC and their charge pipes over this past weekend. The aftermarket charge pipes are supposed to flow better than stock, and after working under the car and seeing what came off the car stock on the hot side, I'm inclined to believe that the aftermarket ones would flow better. It's up to hard data which I don't have, to determine if they actually provide a measurable benefit.

This where I read not to use the hot side because it was restrictive a little bit idk exactly why though It would save me money though cuz the FMIC kit is quite expensive but at the same trying to buy the best quality parts I can have and Cobb's FMIC is the biggest FMIC besides the J-Line which is crazy to install and heavier

Incorrect Cobb is not the biggest. There is a thread on the site that basically list all the intercoolers for our cars with all there specs.

Yea i know its not its the J-Line IC I said cobb is the biggest besides the J-Line

The DHM factory fit isn't the biggest, but the DHM race intercooler is. Then comes the J-line, but that one has a lot of fabrication involved from what I understand. The Cobb is the largest stock fitment/no alterations needed.

They are in the works on the new one which core looks to be bigger than all the others on the market that are direct fit.

I'm in on the group buy for one of them. It's not the biggest, it's 22x6x3.5, whit puts it just behind Cobb in Volume, comparable to ATP if I remember correctly. DHM is going for comparable performance but more budget friendly.

I see so much misinformation from the ModBargains site that it's ridiculous. Nowhere has the hot-side charge pipe ever been legitimately been proven to be a restriction on the stock turbo and even ATP, whom sells a replacement, doesn't advise replacing it for the OEM turbo. If you want to replace it that's great, but don't do it under the premise of getting any benefits of any measurable sort. The donut may look weird, but it won't impede flow.

Despite the lack of third-party data on the DHM OEM-location FMIC replacement, I'm inclined to believe that it will probably be one of the best overall values for an intercooler not requiring modifications for installation. Obviously that's just a guess, but I think that they have had enough time to evaluate the competition and design something to specifically cater to that market. I'm pretty curious to start seeing the end-user data relating to it.

Once I've gotten mine, I'll see if I can run some logs, before installing on current stage 1, after install on stage 1 for comparison, and stage 2.
