How do YOU pack for your trackday/autocross/drag event?

One of the interesting things about grassroots motorsports is how everyone prepares for one. Some people will drive 200 miles one way to an HPDE, bring NOTHING but a helmet, and be happy as a clam. Others will tow their rig, have boxes and boxes of spare parts and tools and be prepared for anything.

How do YOU pack?

I'm thinking about buying some type of box that would fit in the back to haul my crap.

I like to bring:
2 jackstands
1 jack
Socket Set
Couple of common wrenches
Torque Wrench
Helmet
Spare brake pads and a rotor for the front and back if I have them.
Brake Fluid

and lots of food, drinks and a chair.

If you have any pics of your set up, post em up!

I usually have my tent, chairs, 2 jack stands, jack. Than I use rubber made clear containers like the ones from Costco to organize my loose objects. I have one box for fluids(oil, coolant distilled water, rags for checking oil) one box for brake stuff (brake pads, rotors, bleeder bottle with tools to loosen the screws) one box with misc (duct tape, wet wipes, zip ties, misc tools, rags, assembled TQ wrench with socket for checking lug nuts, tire gauge, notebook) one box for spare parts if needed [I prefer things like clamps, radiator hoses, drive belt, and other cheap wear items] (this depends on your car and your level of prep) I carry my tools in a snap on tool bag, Works very well and keeps everything easily at hand. Finally cooler with water, snacks, Monster or Red bulls, and Gatorade.

I like to very organized at the track. So it's easy to download the car at home after a long weekend. No one wants to be doing crazy unpacking on a Sunday night when they have to work on Monday.

Quick Story about being unprepared for a track day. Redline Time Attack BeaveRun 2006. A group of 3 of us drove about 3 hours to get there. One of the cars we drove up was a 91 NSX. Well the NSX Blew the radiator hoses apart between the engine and hard line under the car. It tooks us 4 trips to autozone 90min road trip, probably 9 different hoses, and a dozen zip ties to make something work to get the car home. Than my E36 M3 popped a radiator hose the same day. Lucky I found the hose at AutoZone that fit it. After that I never go to the track with spare hoses.

Depends on the event and since we drive 2-3 hrs each way to one we haul a few things or we make a weekend and take the car trailer and tents/awning our race box is always at the ready with several of the above mentioned items though most times spare parts only go in the trailer trips along with honda generator and small 120V air compressor and tools. But for the race box its fluids to drink lots of towels and snacks as well as micro fiber cloth and fast detailer to clean up the car before laying the magnetic numbers on the door and most of all WINDOW cleaner to get the bugs off from the drive there if the place we are going has seating as most do being they are held at localish race tracks 1/4-1/2 mile ovals with the course on the oval and in between we leave the chairs at home and use the provided seat but if it is at a open area like a baseball stadium parking lot we take chairs and awning for shade. as well as helmets and a change of clothes if the weather looks bad rain makes a wet outfit a cold wet drive home or maybe too hot they sometimes let you wear shorts at the local events.

So add to above list's
WINDOW CLEANER

My List:

-Helmet & Sunglasses
-Race Numbers
-Cooler with food and water for the day
-Socket Set
-Torque Wrench
-Compressor and tire gauge
-Water Sprayer
-Utility Blanket and/or tarp
-Spare change of clothes
-Spare Shoes
-Rain gear & Extra coat
-Sun Hat & Regular Hat
-Camp Chair
-Camera / GoPro
-2 Tires & Rims (Only when close to cording a tire)

I've gotten soaked at a few events now, so the tarp and spare change of cloths and shoes has saved my ass big time.

I am also looking at bringing out one of those pop up shelters for my next event, I used to bring a patio umbrella... but we had a windstorm and it didn't do so well.

Since I only drag race and my track is semi local to me I usually just pack a basic easy up, my chair, a basic tool kit (breaker bar lug nut socket, misc basic tools) a helmet, an ice chest, and a good attitude. I also make sure to have my aaa towing up to date incase I break the car and need the walk of shame ride home

I love this thread but too damn tired as hauling ares since 6AM and still not all the way ready for a road trip in the very early AM to respond but I will when I can.

I do have to mention this right now though:)

The one single most effective "tool" I have ever found, bailing wire;)

Omg I always forget that and get burnt. I'm buying a bottle and leaving it with my track tool box!! Super important thing because when you call off work for a track day and show up the next day at work burnt it doesn't look good.
