Short Video of one Lap at Thunderhill Raceway

Hey everyone,

I got a chance to overlay my data over my GoPro footage. Unfortunately I did not log the data from my best (last) session so when that video finishes uploading, it will not have GPS and Speed telemetry. Overall the car preformed beautifully. My only issues were cooling issues (sigh). Despite it being 92 degrees out, it seemed that for every hard lap I took I had to take a three quarter cooldown lap. My Oil Temperatures were 255-270 Fahrenheit and Coolant temps were anywhere between 230-250 Fahrenheit [:0]. The coolant light would come on and place my car in limp mode which would force me to coast the car for one lap before I got back on it again. I did use a 75% Water and 25% Coolant Mixture with some Waterwetter before hitting the track. The porsche air brake vents worked great, I got ZERO brake fade throughout all 5 sessions. I had the utmost confidence in braking on every turn which was amazing, it definitely made me overcome the fear when I almost crashed at this very same track last year because my brakes overheated and failed.

I will be attending this track again next month with hopefully Mishimoto's new oil cooler. I will also plan on adding a tad of Toe Out to my alignment to see if it helps with turn in.

Feel free to ask any questions guys.

Huge thanks for the upload and the info!

The stock cooling seems to be lacking pretty bad. :(

Are you running after market camber bolts by chance or maxing out on stock bolts.... or not even bothering?

Seems like you have plenty of track day experience with the fist.

Best bangs for buck as far as track day mods or must haves.

as in, my car is stock but im going to do a track day in the fist for the first time ( intermediate HPDE driver here) and i'm debating on just going all stock and figuring out what is okay/not okay or just investing in track pads anyways.
Changing brake fluid and coolant is easy.

Thanks for posting vids!

Best bang for the buck track upgrade is the Wilwood big brake kit and some proper pads like the Polymatrix B compound. The imporved braking and confidence let me cut 4.5seconds off my previous fastest lap time! I would keep it stock until Mishimoto comes out with their radiator and oil cooler. Otherwise, you'll be like the rest of us who can only get in a few hot laps per session while trying to manage the temps the rest of the time...

Thanks man,
Sorry for not responding earlier, I didn't see your last quote.

Best Bang for the buck mod would seriously have to be brakes. Being able to brake way later than most people is a godsend. I love my Wilwood kit, and when combined with the DTC60 pads from HAWK or Wilwood's E Compound, you'll seriously outbrake 90 percent of the cars out on the track, considering you have good tires. The porsche 991 Brake ducts are also a cheap way to cool down your rotors. They were 40 dollars for both sides. Just remember that when you're tracking your car, to run with TCS off, not in Sport mode. If you're in sport mode, you will seriously melt your brakes. I ran off the track going 90 mph because my brakes failed for that same reason.

With all that considered the BEST bang for your buck is seriously getting a 10 dollar bottle of water wetter and some distilled water. These little buggers like to over heat, and whatever you can do to expel any heat where you can is definitely needed.
