Greetings FiSTers, I am Varmon of Gainesville. I am proud to say that I am an owner of a brand new 2015 Fiesta ST in Ingot Silver and now a member of this wonderful forum that I have lurked for quite some time now. This is the first car that is officially mine and also my first manual car. This is by far the easiest manual transmission car I have drove in. I am now finding ridiculous excuse to just go on a drive in this beast. I went with the 2015 model instead of the 2016 because there is something about a silver car and how it bends light that I just love. Of course the $1000 cash back with 0% financing helped convince me too.[grinking]

So far this is the quickest car that my family has owned and I have not even rev past 3000k yet! I was not considering the Fiesta ST at first because I did not knew it existed. But once I saw a Molten Orange one with SVT wheels in the wild, I had to find out what was that thing that just flew past me. I test drove a Focus ST and a FRS but the FiST is the by far the best feeling car for me. Once again I am proud to say I am a proud owner of a new Fiesta ST now!

Bonus: The exact same FoST that I test drove that someone bought right next to my personal FiST.

Nice choice! I prefer the '15s over the '16s as well, but I am biased.

The metallic flake is just so dreamy. [pray]

I do have one question, how do I shift smoothly from 1st to 2nd gear? Like what RPM or speed should I be going for the smoothest possible shift?

Ford specifics for this matter is 12 mph (19 km/h), but describes it as being "best for fuel economy". You might already know that on your dash in the very middle, a blue outline of an arrow which lights up at about 2000 rpm indicating that the driver to shift up. I find that it's not so much a specific rpm or speed but the method. Following this with a light foot can result in smoother shifting, minimal use of boost, but a overall slow shift. Spinning towards 2000 rpm with a heavier foot results in somewhat harsher shifting, more use of boost, but of course a faster get up and go.
Again in my experience driving manual, it's the method and how the method meets your conditions. For example going downhill or uphill can require different methods. Uphill I'll linger a bit in the clutch while giving slightly more throttle to apply more initial torque. Slipping the clutch at 4000 rpm in my non-LSD RWD truck will cause tire smoke. In the Fist I've found that 1-2 shifts are somewhat inherently harsh with the A/C on full (on stock cars, at least), because RPM will be slightly higher (I usually drive everything with the windows open, A/C off). So I am finding that I will need to adjust my method dependent on the A/C at times. For me this car is a learning experience every time I drive. Using your best judgement dependent on what you're attempting to accomplish and the correct method can result in a smooth shift at 2000 rpm or 4000 rpm. And being your first manual car, of course practice, finding the correct method and practicing more will help out

Also welcome!
And were you be any chance in the Clay County area in the last week or so? I spotted a new silver Fist and have been wondering to whom it belonged to as I haven't seen any since I got into mine. (Fists seem to be in hiding, maybe because Fosts are roaming the roads at this time of year?)

Welcome! Same car, same color, same city, different year of course.

Are you a UF student? There's a student run car club, you do have to be a student to join, however.

Thank you for the tip! I did not know that the A/C had an effect on my RPM.
and oh yes that was most likely me, I have just been cruising in the backroads just because of how fun it is driving the FiST. Would you recommend a new RMM to help with the shifting?

Unfortunately I am not, I am a SF student though. Hopefully I can transfer after getting my AA. Do you know of any nice twisty roads around here to roam? The best I can find is just Haile Plantation.

I'm pretty new to the area so I don't really know of any sadly. The round abouts are fun if no one is around to ruin it. There's a fun hairpin u-turn on the right if you're heading south on Williston turning on to main st.

I'm still looking for decent roads myself.
