BPV/BOV location?

Im curious, where on earth in the intercooler piping has Ford mounted the BOV/BPV. I looked all over one day in my engine bay (assembled of course) and never saw a single trace of it. Someone had informed me that electronic valves are becoming the new rage, don't know if this is the case with us.

I remember my MS3 had a particularly loud one that I sure did like hearing all the time, probably another reason I got terrible MPG's, but I miss that on this car. I rarely hear the BOV even next to a wall when im going through the gears.

Anyone care to chime in on some information regarding this mystery.

People are using some type of diverter valve on these. Idk if they are using them in conjunction with the OEM one or what.

If you want to hear it, ditch the stock intake. I recently put the FSwerks intake on my car and the bpv is very noticeable now

Do you have a vid clip you can share? The one I saw on youtube wasn't that loud.

Sorta off topic, but in the realm of the turbo itself. Anyone know if this little turbo is twin scroll? I tried to find specs for it online, but it doesnt even come up on Borg Warners website....

Its not according to their site

Optimally tuned turbocharging
In order to master the special challenges facing smaller engines with regard to low-end torque and driving dynamics, the specialists from BorgWarner for the first time used the compact KP 39 with optimized thermodynamics for gasoline engines. Accordingly, the turbocharger responds almost without delay and assures that the new 1.4 liter engine quickly delivers its output performance.
The combination of the chosen engine design in conjunction with excellent thermodynamic characteristics of the turbocharger enabled the engineers to avoid the use of a complex twin scroll exhaust turbocharger that only merges the exhaust flows of the individual cylinders just before the turbine rotor.

There are a lot of Audi guys that have swapped to the k04 and got monstrous power. Even the k03s on the FoST would have been a better choice than what we have.

Agreed. This tiny little turbo kinda blows (no pun intended lol)
K03 on this, and K04 on the FoST would have been better matches in my opinion.

Bigger turbos would incite ricer flybys !!!! LOL. Sorry couldnt help it. [bootyshake] They probably had emissions, TQ, Cost and packaging constraints in mind when they selected this turbo. They may have also known people will mess with these cars and adding a smaller turbo that wont push a lot of boost wont have many warranty claims coming in(AKA ROD through block) vs a big(er) turbo where you can turn the wick up and get into some trouble.

You do have to wonder of a FOST turbo will bolt right up [biggrin]

Those ricers must have that engine bay x ray vision for it to inctie a ricer fly by lol.
Ya I see what your saying, but with a larger turbo they could have also turned the boost down and achieved the same power which in stock form could prolong the engines life.
I wish that K03 would bolt up! But considering the FoST has some weird built in manifold, their hotside flange is probably something off the wall, I doubt the turbo would work on ours </3 haha

I mean a boost controller is an easy install thus upping the boost would be cake and so would be screwing something up (if you dont know what you were doing).

Actually lower boost levels on a bigger turbo wouldn't do much for engine life it would make the turbo last longer though.

I had a K04 upgrade on my 99 Passat 1.8T (when I had it) and was at about 250whp with a large FMIC running 21psi. It was very "digital" feeling though. NO power and lots of lag until 3K then full boost and all wheelspin. Kindof a pain in the ass to drive from a stop. Fun on the highway though.
