But I'm damn tired of a 40 series tire.I have 17X7 ET42 Team Dynamics pro Race in anthracite with all seasons if someone local to me is interested. Two wheels have about a two in curb rash on them, other two normal wear and tear for daily driving. Not fully made up my mind but would consider it if someone local was interested in them. Located in Fairfax Virginia.

Trade for 15's with money on top on my end?

I just switched down to 16s from the stock 17s and it makes a pretty big difference in this area, imo.

I figure it would. I have had two pot hole punctured tires in the past six four months, previously I think I have had one flat tire my whole life. Plus I'm getting old and need a bit softer ride.

Why not try 45 series tires? Much better ride and greater protection. I've hit some pot holes where I thought for sure my tire was done or the wheel was bent. But the Pro Race wheels are hardy.

Swapping struts and springs will help a lot too with the ride.

But I understand if none of those are options. Just trying to give you some other options.

I just swapped over to 205/45R17 and the ride is significantly better than before. It takes the sharp edge off the bumps and I don't feel slight washboarding in the road anymore.

I know what you mean. I hit a massive pothole coming off of the GW parkway in a construction zone at night and the whole car was vibrating for a couple seconds it hit so hard. I thought for sure I had a flat and probably a bent rim, but it seems to have held up. I'm actually looking forward to putting the 15's and winters on soon though.

What all seasons do you have on them? How much life left in them?

I have the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2. Decent amount of tread on the rear about 40% left on the fronts.

Appreciate the suggestions, not sure how it would look with a 45 series and concerned about rubbing, I have Eibach's on it.

I believe RAAMaudio can provide insight there. He also has coilovers and 45 series all-seasons.

Unless in big demand used wheels and tires even in great shape generally sell for half the new cost including mounting, balancing, etc...

I would not go bigger than a 205/45/17 as wider and taller mean more fitment issues, more weight for very little added rubber on the road, less rim support usually means less precise feedback and handling.

The wheel offset will effect what you can run as well.

The mount for the bumper cover to the fenders might need trimmed, I had to trim mine but not sure if it was to fit the wide race tires and wheels or the Mich AS tires in the size above.

I am seriously considering selling my lightly used Konig Feathers, great low cost low weight wheels(4x100 only) , and Mich PS A/S3 tires and going to 16's for my 3 season setup, I would run 15's but no tires made I can use on 9" wide wheels and that is the only size that will fit over my DIY BBKs. The reason for going to 16's is ride quality, the 225/45/15 Rival S summer tires ride much better than the A/S 3 in 17" and an unexpected bonus, they are quieter. I like to mention 15 and 16" options as they look great on the car, less weight, usually less cost, ride better, more protection over potholes, etc.......

Yea, I'm for sure moving to 16's just got to get rid of the TD's first or at least have a buyer lined up.

The 15s wrapped in Rival S has had my curiosity ever since Rodmoe debuted them. Maybe next spring, I'll sale my 17s and pick up the 15s in gold from Chalon that no one seems to want. I may do it over the winter since I'll be running a different set up and my current gold TDs won't be on the car anyway.

The TD wheels are great but in case you are considering the 4x100 conversion, which I highly recommend there are several other wheels that are low in weight, roll formed at great prices.

Very serious work if you want 9" wide ones on the back but there are 8's and 7's but 8's are mostly +25mm which is the wrong offset, there are some that will work though.

In 15x8 +35mm the best on the site below are these.
6UL, flow formed, 11.4 lbs, built for racing so very strong, $159 each.
Tracklite Gear, flow formed, 12.4 lbs, $159 each

To bad the Konig Helix is not made in +35 in the 8" wide as it is 12.8 lbs, flow formed(roll formed is basically the same thing) and just $119! The +35 would weight less than +25mm as well.

You would love the Rival S tires, amazing grip, feedback, low noise for what they are, look great, ride great....:)
And they are fine on an 8" wide wheel though for all out performance there is a bit of gain on a 9" wheel. I would or ran 8's on mine but the wheels were not available and it makes things easier to have all ten track and summer wheels the exact same.
