Hi all,

So the ModBug has me in its' grasp and I've been researching and compiling a wishlist for my FiST. My Goal for the car is to basically inject all aspects with steriods, a little more power, handling, engine notes, driving feel, while remaining daily driveable. I am not looking to build a 300+HP dedicated track car (not at this time at least).

Below is what I've come up with, but I'd love input from the community on area's I've missed, items that may be better than those selected, or reviews from those with the items currently installed. Feel free to be honest, I'd rather be notified I'm making a dumb move now rather than after the purchase and installation of any parts.

Boomba Ultimate SSK: 329
JBR Oil Catch Can: 180
Cobb Stage 3 PKG: 2960

Cobb Swaybars: 345
Pierce Motorsports Chassis Stiffening: 758
Triple-R Front Splitter: 250
Fifteen52 Tarmacs 17x8 et42: 279x4 = 1116
Tires???

I am a total noob when it comes to wheels/tires and could really use some help with finding a good set of rubber for the tarmacs. I really really wanted to splurge on some Volks te37 or some Rota Grids but not sure they'll fit without more fitment work than I'm ready to get into. Anyways, I'll let someone more well versed in fitment chime in for all this..

Also.. Powerflex Bushings for the suspension, was tempted to add these to the list but not 100% sure they're worth it for DD use, anyone with more knowledge here would be greatly appreciated.

I would also consider a tune from Adam [MENTION=3805]Tune+[/MENTION]

Affordable lifetime tune that you can update as you add mods. It's really something to consider

I just stumbled upon Adam's tunes reading through PerfBlue's build thread, I'll most certainly look into it when the time is appropriate. Affordable and lifetime are very attractive words haha!

no pierce motorsports goodies? Im looking at a 2 pt front tie bar, fstb, rear lateral brace and rear torsion bar plus eibach sway bars

Agree with this guy. Got the 2 pt brace and installing the street torsion bar and front strut bar soon. Can't wait.

So much chassis stiffening goodness with the pierce motorsports products!!! I'm just wondering how much would be too much, a part of me wants to go all out, 6 point/upper/mid/rear/torsion, but the streets in San Francisco are statistically the worst streets in the nation (and not even that stat does them justice, I had a silverado before the FiST and it was more jolting driving around the city than going offroad sometimes). The conservative route would make sense, but still cost a pretty penny and I'd hate to be left wanting... damn this modbug!

I just went with their street package. Since I'll never track my car and it's strictly daily driver.

Excited to hear your thoughts on the package after installation.
Well I already have the 2 pt brace which is great. I'm getting the other 2 parts put on at the same time so I won't be able give impression on them individually but I will for the whole package. Jim makes great stuff so I can't wait.

There is no such thing as too stiff of a chassis. Too stiff of spring and damper combination? Absolutely. But a stiff chassis is a gift. I installed the 6 point front brace from Pierce almost immediately after buying my car. Didn't notice a big difference from behind the wheel, but structurally, it sure ties the whole front of the car together. Will be adding the strut brace, trunk brace and torsion bar soon.

Maybe for you California smooth road folks! With Chicago potholes especially in the winter and spring I need me some chassis flex

The theory that a flexible chassis is somehow desirable for a smooth ride is ridiculous. Ever notice that the race car and OE engineers are always touting improved chassis stiffness as a goal, and a selling point? Ideally, you want a stiff chassis, so all the suspension pickups stay static, and compliant suspension, for management of bumps, berms, etc.

But if you prefer a wet noodle chassis, then by all means, go right ahead. And maybe you can convince an entire engineering industry that they are all wrong.

The stiff chassis logic makes sense to me, gotta check out TB motorsports site as well. Also, looking at the lightweight battery options at Pierce motorsports, seems like the 15b DD battery would not only still save me weight with all the chassis stiffening, but relocate the weight low... win win!

I'm now also highly considering a set of BC Racing coilovers as opposed to just the mountune springs, I've had coilovers before (bilstein pss9's on my e36) and I did enjoy them for the short duration they were on before the engine blew up lol.

I have Powerflex bushings on my daily driver E30 and I hate them. They squeak incessantly, I can't stand it. I refreshed the entire suspension a year ago, and bought Powerflex thinking they would be a great upgrade. Now I wish I had just installed OEM rubber. On the track I'm sure they're better, as the handling is crisp and tight, but for a DD I'd avoid them if I were doing it again.

This is what I figured, thank you for confirming! If the car ends up being a track toy I'll do them, but for now I think I'll steer clear.

Whenever you are ready to tune, just let me know! I would recommend also picking up one of my internal wastegate actuators. It is good for 8-10whp, and 2 more psi of boost up top. The big advantage is that it prevents surging, and transient boost spikes when shifting. I will have a pre-order on my site later today!

Thanks Adam! It'll be a few months of parts gathering but when the time comes I'll most certainly be in touch. I was looking at the turbosmart IWG to go along my with their dual shortie kompact BOV, would your setup be more beneficial, and if so could elaborate why or on the differences between the parts. New to turbos, I haven't a clue!
