Quaife LSD - Who is interested?

This upgrade is starting to become more popular, as it should be, and I wanted to reach out and gauge interest on who would be looking to do this upgrade over this winter or in the near future.

If I can get a decent amount interested, I will order these in from QUAIFE UK and save you about $150.00 on buying them at the current price out there.

Here is an install thread that rodmoe did not to long ago, just so you can see what is involved if you don't take it to a shop.

It's definitely a long term goal of mine. 2017 or 2018 most likely, though. Not helpful probably. ;)

Having done a DIY install I can say this is a pretty serious project but a very worthy one.

IF you hire a shop to do the install spend the time to research the shop carefully before hand, this is a job that has to be done right the first time.

Thanks for offering this mod to those not yet having one:)

I purchased mine from mountune and got it installed by a local Ford shop with a sage kind of tech. It's all good and has been subjected to one track day so far No noises and worked great for smoother corner exit.

One question I have is this: Didn't mountune come out awhile ago with a press announcment about being the exclusive direct vendor of Quaife LSDs for the Fiesta ST? Other vendors had to buy through them. Did that change? Was that incorrect information? Did I misunderstand that?

$150 is $150, that's for sure. I highly recommend this mod for anyone thinking about recreational lapping the Fiesta ST -- especially with any kind of added power.

I don't think that is accurate, there are distributors in the USA that hold inventory.

LSD or not......I will be in the middle of another turbo change soon but right now I have a laggy turbo tuned on 91 and at 4200 ft making around 285 WHP and a bit less in torque, 1st gear not much help but in second gear, 225 Rival S tires, the car rips off and no wheel spin. Last fall when at 200 ft elevation where it makes quite a bit more power, in a safe area and nobody around, 2nd gear roll on against a 302ci built 67 Stang I spanked him, shocked us both!

The LSD and not able to turn off TVC work in great harmony and save your brakes while also getting you out of the corners faster.

There is some serious torque steer to deal with once you start making serious power. When I was at 220WHP there was none, now it is there significantly but in a way a bit of fun or a challenge and certainly entertaining for passengers:)

With our low sales volume I am not sure any other LSD might come out and if it would be better or not, this is what we can get and it does help a great deal, I would not go without one for damn sure:)

I would like one. I'd like to do the install myself but pulling and cracking a transmission is a big undertaking. I confess I've done some intermediate things with my car but never even changed my oil!

Before doing anything else power wise, I would like to do this mod. How much should someone really charge for labor? Adams price shipped is a great deal. I just am sad that labor is likely more than that on its own.

Hey RAAMaudio have you decided on weather or not to use that B spec brake module?

This is just a shot in the dark but I've been estimated at $800 to have an LSD installed. That was the only estimate I got, was just trying to figure out how much it would've been.
Tune+ sent you a PM in regards to this LSD

If you could get a competent LSD install for $800 I would go for it and may of even paid to have mine done for that price.

I do not recall the latest update on the use of the B spec module, waiting to see if successfully done before deciding on it.

---------

The TVC works well with this type LSD because if you lift a wheel it unlocks, the TVC helps prevent that.

I will do the order, simply copy the list below and put your name on it. For now we will just be doing the LSD's and not the install parts, those can be sourced in the thread posted in the first link.

Price will be $985.00 shipped for the buy.

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Once we fill all 5 slots, I will take payment and place the order. ETA is 2 weeks from the day of order.

That's really a very good price.

As for installation cost, I believe I paid $750 plus tax to a tech at Bickford Ford in Snohomish last March. It's handy to have someone that has done this kind of thing before and is confident to do another. The owner of the race shop that works on my car normally had done the Quaife on my prior SVT Focus (when he worked for different shop), but declined this project. His guys could not do it and he didn't want to do it. Hah.
