Delrin and Aluminum Steering Rack Bushings

Hey guys,
I am now going to be machining both Delrin and solid aluminum steering rack bushings for the Fiesta and Fiesta ST! These have been a big hit for the Mk 1 and Mk 2 Focus, and pretty significantly increase steering control and response. It also forces the wheels to stay where you are pointing them, instead of being able to push against the rubber and twitch around turns, as well as immediately going where you point them, instead of loading against the rubber, and then finally unloading in that direction.

These work by replacing the squishy rubber bushings that the factory installs with Delrin, which is a very stiff and exremely durable acetal resin plastic. I finish it off with a steel center sleeve to prevent over compression.

I also make them from solid aluminum for the ultimate stiffness and durability, but you might experience extra harmonic vibration through the steering wheel.

Aluminum - $55 shipped
Delrin - $65 shipped

Please PM me if interested. Also, go check out my other sites!

Damn nice mod and one I most highly endorse:)

I will order as soon as you let me know how and I am ready for a shipping address as will be in a two different big states withing the next ten days or so.

I trimmed down some washers to fit over the stock bushings to tighten them up a as much as I could but solid bushings are much better and I will use the Delrin as over the long haul will last longer than aluminum.

I just ordered the aluminum bushings as want the best feedback possible though delrin will be very close.

I also would not take the time to install such a part if I did not know it can make a significant improvement in feedback and precision at speed. I have done two Vettes with aluminum bushings that were very hard to get to, this car will be much easier, the effort on the Vettes was worth it and it will be on the FiST as well.

I have not installed steering rack bushings on an electric power steering system car before but I still expect it to help and electric systems need all the help they can get. We are lucky the system on our cars is pretty darn good, making it better will only enhance the fun:)

Definitely interested. Can you post a link of install directions for the Focus so we can see what is involved? That will sway a lot of us I think.
