I thought I read somewhere that the top end of the ST was around 141 mph. Does a Stage 1 fit change this this at all, assuming you have 15 more horses? I'll probably never be able to find out and was just curious if anyone opened one up and how many hp it might take to hit 150 mph.

I do not know about stage 1, but on stage 3 with an E30 pro tune, I have gone over 150. Not sure how much, I looked down and seen the needle past 150, and then started slowing down. So for sure on stage 3. Stage 1, you may be able to get over it, not sure if the OTS tunes remove the speed limiter or not.

You can get a pretty good approximation of hp required beyond stock to reach 150 mph from the calcs I used in this thread. Note that I was using VDyno hp, most everyone posts VD Dynojet version, I have since switched to using it too, cuts down on confusion in threads.

Note that I also used calculated top speed stock, based on AP rpm logged in 5th and 6th gears, gear ratios and tire size. I have no idea what speedometer is reading at top end, never owned a car that had accurate speedo so did not bother to look. Scenery going by pretty fast and it takes a while to reach top speed, run both ways, etc to get stable data.

I will see if I can find the video of my hitting 150 in mine. My brother recorded it for me. On a closed road up north. If I can find it, you will see how it is getting up there.

I have a video on my youtube channel of me going from a stop to like 145mph reasonably quick before running out of road.

Have been up to 158mph(255km/h as I have a euro model) indicated on the speedo twice in mine. It's about to run out of revs at that point, so I would think max on stock rev limit of 6350 is around 160-165mph(depending on wheel size).

I have an intercooler and upgraded airfilter and a tune to 211whp.

With a COBB, Mountune or whoever makes it, tune that lifts the rev limit, you can of course go faster.

Nice.

I just saw another video, perhaps European since the speedo was KPH, where they hit ~ 235 KPH/145 MPH

That was on a 74-78 degree night on 93oct with a passenger. I guess the other videos on that road were from a stop. The older ones were on E30 I think.
Mods ? Cyborg turbo, TBE, and china treadstone intercooler. Stock intake and everything else. 235/40-17 tires

Sorry to burst any bubbles here but there is a certain amount of tire slippage at mid speeds and far more profound at higher speeds so your true numbers will be a bit less.

And, your tires will stretch a bit at higher revolutions compounding the accuracy of the speedo, logs, etc....a clock is the only way to get it right, GPS may get it close though.

I need to look up the indicated speed my car would make with 23" tires, 300WHP, 7,500 RMP cut off, small spliter, full length undertray, current ride height and front to rear rake.....wind tunnel work......OK not going to happen:)

I know the Vettes I had would go faster in 5th than 6th gear, something else to consider though they did have double overdrive gearing.

I bet with a little research there is a formula to be found that includes frontal area, drag, gearing, power, etc......

The fastest that I've had mine was 125 per the speedo. The FiST is too tiny (unsafe) IMO for top speed runs, and top speed isn't the reason that I personally bought it. It is fun though knowing how much steam the little eco boost has in it!
