Need Help Deciding Focus ST VS Fiesta St

Hello everyone,

I am a new member to the forum. I come from a 2010 WRX that I had recently sold and want to purchase a new vehicle.

I am currently torn between the Focus St and the Fiesta St.

With the grand reviews and stellar performance of the Fiesta ST, the prices between the two are almost negligible, even though theirs a big performance difference when moving up to the Focus ST.

Which should I be considering? And I know there will be bias toward the Fiesta since we are on a fiesta forum...

Thank you

Drive them.

When I drove the Focus ST, it did not feel terribly nimble and the rear suspension was not very predictable. The power was great.

In the Fiesta ST, I can put it exactly where I want and it still has great power (with more to come).

My preference was the Fiesta ST and the performance difference isn't all that great.

Test drive both but you'll like the FiST great handling compared to the FoST hands down.

Nav is nice too. The only other thing I would spend on is fancy paint (not the wheels/calipers).

I was all about the FoST until I drove the FiST. Then there was no doubt in my mind which one I wanted to own.

I believe dyn085 has both,so he may chime in. I went with the Fiesta because, well,it just felt right. You can definitely mod it and get some serious power out of it. It's pretty damn fun stock, too! Best of luck in your choice.

I'm not biased and I take plenty of flak from both communities for it, lol. Realistically though, the platforms are very similar yet drastically different so it pays to look at both sides of the coin.

Quite honestly, it really comes down to what you want and value in your vehicle. There are things that I like in my FiST that my FoST can't offer and there are things about my FoST that my FiST can't offer. Family size, modification plans, general usage, etc., are all things you'll want to think about and weigh before trying to decide.

And definitely take a long test-drive with both, something more than just around the block.

I'm a family of 3 and the FIST works for us but my wife does drive a Mazda CX-5 awd. For a run in the city, FiST is king! With a toddler. LoL

I have owned both, a '14 FoST modified up to stage 3 and now my '16 FiST currently at stage 2. I had done swaybars on the FoST, but no springs or other suspension mods.

The FoST tends to ride smoother and hold its composure better on mid-corner bumps due to its independent rear suspension. But it does feel heavier and noticeably larger than the FiST. It is also a MAP motor, so intake mods and blowoff valves are a lot easier without worrying about MAF airflow calculations. The 2.0 also sounds pretty badass with a full MBRP turbo back and no cat system, as you can really hear in the last part of this short vid:

All that said, the FiST is definitely more lively and fun in daily driving, feels much lighter and tossable. The interior is not as nice as the FoST overall, but the Recaros feel much better than the FoST leather or cloth ones. It also fits in places a lot better, my garage feels huge now, heh.

I am happy to have owned both, as well as the '15 GT I had inbetween them. Love what Ford is doing lately.

And one pic of the Mustang as well, why not? Might as well go off script for a moment... and if I am happy with the FiST after trading this in for it, you should realize just how great a car it actually is... or how nuts I am. [:)]

I've owned both as well - 14 FoST in Performance Blue with the ST2 package, and now a 15 FiST in Green Envy.

I always felt that the FoST was just a little too big, and had too much power (for me). The FiST feels more manageable size-wise, and power-wise as well - again, for me. Plus the gas mileage is better in the FiST, as I only ever got 23mpg in my FoST (getting 27ish in my FiST).

I also recommend getting the darker wheels, as both of these put out brake dust like there is no tomorrow! The darker wheels do help hide the dust, if you're not OCD about cleaning your wheels after every drive (like I am). [;)]

I ended up getting major back issues about 6 months into owning my FoST, and the Recaros became a nightmare to live with - I got the base seats in my FiST and couldn't be happier! Just make sure if you're going for the Recaros, on either car, you can live with them on a daily basis. Again, this was just my personal experience, as others on here love the Recaros. Good luck with either one you choose!
