Another Firewall question

After hours of searching all I could find was everyone running wires/lines through the grommet next to the clutch pedal or the hole near the A pillar. Mounted a Meth controller in my glove box but the problem Im have is running the boost line from the controller to the engine bay. Has anyone successfully gotten through the firewall from the passenger side without going through the center console? If not, has anyone drilled a hole on the passenger side?

When I was running wires for my sound system, I found it very difficult to drill for holes on the passenger side simply because there isn't a sufficient area inside engine bay without removing parts as well as more obstruction behind the dash. Having a rubber grommet on the driver side where you can easily run the wires through is so much easier.

I have some wiring ran from the passenger side to the drivers side under the dash, it was a bit of work but not to difficult, used a fish wire to get it going. From there you can run a wire through a stock grommet like I did with the 4 gauge for the rear mount battery or other methods not to difficult, at least compared to the many cars I have added wiring, vac lines, hoses, etc for various underhood mods.

This seems like my only option without hacking into anything. I have the lines tapped up on the drivers side waiting, I just wanted to see if there was another option. I was short on boost line was my concern is all. I did just run out and bought an additional 5 feet of line and some wire loom to help keep the boost line from pinching. Thanks for the advice!

There is a small grommet near the hood latch cable. It is about 2" higher, and about 2" closer to the drivers side. Very hard to reach, but I managed to remove the grommet and drill a hole in it for some 4ga cable. Not sure if that is big enough for your needs.

I believe I used the same hole but did not have to make it bigger than I recall and I also used a grommet.

I used the hood latch cable hole for other wires I had to run since it was available, hood pins for now, as soon as I get the CF hood on it will have locking Aerocatch latches:)

I lifted the following from my build thread showing the hole and routing I used for my ethanol content analyzer hook up

A hole on the driver side firewall with a plastic plug.

Once the plastic plug was removed there was foam about 1" thick behind it. After several trips back and forth to the other side of where the hole should be in the cabin to make sure it was feasible I took a pick and penetrated the rubber backing behind the foam.

The other side of the hole from the driver side cabin. Here's a shot with the tip of the pick barely peeking through.

I hand twisted 16 drill bits through the hole until I could fit a 0 gauge cable through it. There's less than 1" between the bundle wires and the rubber backing that has a new hole in it.

The new hole with a grommet in place.

Next I took a piece of 8 gauge wire to fish the Zeitronix Ethanol Sensor Harness through the new hole.

The new harness making it through the new hole.

Making it through the firewall.

Kind fuzzy, but it's a shot of the harness from the ethanol sensor to the hole in the firewall.

Another angle.

Next was to route the new harness over to the passenger side. I used an 8 gauge wire used to fish the harness through to the other side behind the center console. hmm... I just noticed I still have the protective sheathing on the gas pedal.

The harness in it's new home on the passenger side behind the glove box.

And a shot of the harness in it's final resting spot on the driver side.

Don't jab a coat hanger through the side of the grommet the sound symposer runs through... If you cut your starter button wire, you could end up standing on your head for 2.5 hours with a soldering gun to fix it...

PS: i did run the entire AEM harness and pressure hose through the sound symposer hole.
I would not recommend it though. Luckly, I used hard water injection line.

+1 I used the symposer hole for running everything through the firewall with my aem kit.

I taped the harness before install and used a little rubbing alcohol on it right before I pulled it through, makes it very slippery, then evaporates. But it was TIGHT with 1/4" hard line in the harness.
