Fiesta steering issue, loose side on right turn

Hello,

I am driving fiesta st and have question about steering.

Steering feels more loose when I turn right. Steering is heavy and tight
during turning left but to right turn, steering becomes too light and
does not go back to center quickly as much as left turn.

Also, the car intends to go little bit left when steering is on center.

Anyone feels this?

Thank you.

Been having the exact same issue, except for me right turns feel tight and left loosey goosey. Took it to the dealer multiple times, each time they did an alignment and reprogrammed the steering computer. Said they were able to verify a problem with the steering angle sensor and a recalibration would solve it. It certainly seems to for all of 50 miles or so before there's an issue again. Wonder if it feeling "fixed" was just placebo. I haven't taken it back for a few months because I was tired of paying the ridiculous fee for an alignment each time, but D1JL makes me think it's more than a software issue. Guess I know what I will be up to during this northeast heat wave tomorrow.
D1JL, any tips on how best to get to these bolts? Just crawl under the car and snake your arm through?

I wonder if FordService could dig up some info on this wayward steering issue, since I assume you and I aren't the only ones having it. I'll keep you posted on whether tightening some bolts solves everything or if Bosch has some explaining to do.

The rack bolts on my car were very loose.
I put the car on ramps and asked my wife to turn the steering wheel (at that time I didn't know what was wrong).
I was able to see the rack lift.
I then took the car to the dealer and had them fix it.
After all it is under warranty.

Thank you for all replies. I just picked up my fist from ford dealership. They adjusted an alignment for left shift issue but could not reproduce steering feel issue, they said.

They said that it was electrical steering, it's natural. Idk.

I still need to drive more to check if left shift issue was really fixed.

Please do. That's pretty much what they told me. Being dead on center or having no road feel? That would seem "normal" for servo assist, but not pinky finger steering one direction and ham fisted steering towards the other. That's something wrong. If that was "normal," I think you'd hear about this kinda thing from, well, everyone. Everyone who drives my car, except the dealer, kniws something isn't right.

Finally got under my car. Not a loose bolt issue for me. Must be an issue with the sensor itself, as I imagine one of the three reprogrammings would have solved any software issues.

Resurecting this thread....did you get the steering issue solved? Ive been having the same exact problem for over a year now and its driving me to the point of trading my car in. Tired of dealer visits and them telling me its fine.

No, unfortunately. I have done multiple things that seemed to help short term, but it always comes back. Last thing I did was Stiff Rings to align the subframe (it was way off), an alignment, and reprogramming of the steering and ABS module. That fixed it for about a month. It's back to being difficult to turn right and really loose left.

I give up.

I ended up removing my stiff rings as after a year of use and when it was removed, the piece between the chassis and subframe does not sit correctly. Also I found all the aluminium pieces moved around quite a bit making it worse. Subframe alignment and rear beam alignment fixed the issue for me. Hopefully the subframe will stay put for a while. Otherwise I might get someone to look into machining something more accurate like Rigid Collar.

How did you get the rear end re-aligned? I didn't think that was possible on this car.
