Hi, new to this forum, and am contemplating buying or leasing a 2016 ST base model (I can put a set of Racetech seats in the car for the cost of that Recaro Package!!).

Is there any Ford Racing/Performance short shifter available for these cars, and if there is, is it so much worse than the Mountune (and others) available as to not be worth doing??

I ask because I may be leasing this thing, and am not sure what kind of 'legal' problems I might be inviting installing a FULLY aftermarket, non dealer installed, DRIVETRAIN (as opposed to OZ/Team Dynamics/etc. wheels, or seats, etc.) part.

I am open to suggestions as this was one of the few glaring shortcomings I noticed during the test drive (the L-O-N-G, vague, mushy, throw, along with a clutch pedal pressure that felt like a Bic pen spring to me), which I noticed right away, coming from a Pro 5.0 equipped, T56 gearbox ride (and yes, I know cable shifter vs. DIRECT to internal shift rail is an apples to oranges comparison, but there has to be room for better shift feel).

Thanks in advance,

Dave H.

The Boomba and FSwerks short shifters are inexpensive bolt on short shifters that can easily be put back to stock.

I don't think Ford Racing has anything in the way of a short throw shifter Boomba makes a couple items a short throw shifter, a transmission adapter (similar to the Moutune quick shift) and shifter base bushings. I have the Boomba bushings and short shifter paired with the Moutune quick shift. When I first installed it all the play seem to be gone but 20k miles later and some of the play is back. I don't think it's as bad as it was originally but I wonder if the short throw shifter is putting the cable in a slight bind now and if it will fail at some point leaving me stranded. That said all of the parts would be easily uninstalled when you returned the lease.

Let's see those Racetech seats
HA!

Yes, as soon as I get my full on, privateer version (but sans any inlet restrictor) Fiesta RS WRC from Mr. Wilson, I will post a pic of them installed. [histerical][driving]

But, on a serious note; has anyone ever installed the NRG seats into one of these using either their bases, or Planted bases??
