loud, but not too loud idea for "BOV"

I'm currently searching and reading to see if anyone has done this, but here's my idea in a nutshell.. discuss... or don't, it's a free planet :D

if i'm not mistaken the line that releases turbo pressure when you lift off the throttle ties into the intake ducting just after the MAF.... SO, if you want more of a BOV sound, but not that hideously annoying super loud kind you get with the boomba, couldn't you take that line, re route it into the BOTTOM section of the air box and kind of get the same effect? especially if you're like me and drilled a 2" hole in the bottom of your factory box because you're too cheap to buy a Mountune box?? (and honestly, i don't think the Mountune box works $300 worth of better than a factory modded box.) of course you'd have to cap off where it goes into the intake so you don't pull dirty air into your intake tract. i'm a mechanic, and i can't think of any reason why this wouldn't work. seems to me that line doesn't PULL air, only releases it, so under the air filter should be fine, so long as you place it where it doesn't blow a damn hole in the filter..?? will search some more.. ;)

The part that releases the pressure is on the actual turbo housing. There are no lines coming from it. I installed the boomba adapter yesterday on my car and I love the sound. I can hardly hear it with the radio on and windows up.

I too am loving the Boomba BOV. As the other reply said, you can barely hear it with the windows up.

Also, I'd hate to make something totally custom that did whatever you're thinking can be done. The spacing down there is pretty tight if you don't have access to a lift. Not to mention it's on the complete other side of the car both vertically and horizontally. I wouldn't mess with what works, because you're going to seriously risk breaking something else in the process.

Are you talking about the recirculation hose mod the veloster owners do? Lol. They would remove the hose from the intake and cap it off so it wouldnt recirculate back into the intake basically and get that BOV noise everyone craves.

Edit: something like this?

Running an intake, like the injen or fs werks would give you some turbo sounds as well. Loud, but not like a BOV.

Just get the boomba adapter. It's cheap and the sound helps to make driving your car more fun. I thought I might not like it but I've had it a couple days and I love it.

I've had the boomba for a little over a year. I'd say just get it. You can find them used for $50 all day, new for like $65. Buy it, run it, get bored of it, sell it, you are out $15!

It's really hard for me to justify the turbosmart BOV price simply for a more refined air release noise...

Been rocking the Boomba BOV for more than a year as well.

So far the only ways to get the BOV noise is either get the boomba piece, turbosmart pieces, Forge Motorsport also sells a piece like the boomba where it is a direct Bolt in between the stock system and the turbo, but I don't have first hand experience with that piece.
You can also go with an aftermarket intake and from what I understand is that it also gives you the results of the BOV sound but not super loud. The issue with the intake is that you will also get that turbo whistle when accelerating. Unless you also really want that.

I went all out and got both the injen intake and the boomba. My video was one of the first ones they used to show it off.

okay, good to know! i was under the hood looking around a minute ago and there's so many hoses between coolant, intercooler, vacuum etc, it's almost like being under the hood of a mid eighties chevy... just, all the hoses are bigger ;)
