Has no one seriously opened one up yet to see what valves can be removed or chambers to be straight lined?!

Throttle response FTW!

No. But you get a passenger noise reducer (gag ball) .

As an example, the 2010 Ralliart I had, contained a spring loaded flapper in the exhaust that would only open under heavy load causing an additional free flowing path for exhaust. A simple mod would be to remove the flapper and straight pipe one of the channels that had holes all in it to help keep noise down. Weld it back shut and all done. Throatier sound and mush better throttle response at all load percentages.

All while looking stock.

Mountune claims their muffler has a Helmholtz resonator built in, it heavy enough, could be true.

I'm not looking to resonate my OE setup, only take more advantage of it.

I'm on a stock turbo and have seen enough numbers, charts and people piping in that I trust to come to my own conclusion that worrying about drone at 3+k rpm is a HUGE issue for a daily that is all highway. That is my biggest concern.

Now the elephant in the room. Stock Turbo, Stock Down Pipe. Is even the cheapest exhaust going to give me 10hp? No. (that's a period)

I don't know why everyone hates the free mods these days?! Everyone bitches about the economy, fuel prices, job availability, what they owe in credit and how it's all unfair. Yet you get stoned for not making the most out of your car yourself. It's no hidden secret that OE stuff is restrictive. I've been removing silencers from intakes since the late 80's.

Wouldn't just loping off the resonator for a straight pipe of 55mm or 2.25", then loping off the muffler for a magnaflow (or a cherrybomb XD) be cheaper in terms of labour? We have to cut the exhaust regardless to get to the resonator and muffler as the entire catback is one piece.

Not really. I can throw rocks and hit someone looking to practice welds, or needs a few beers when I come over anyways. ;>

I'm just not willing to open it up w/o knowing yet, understanding how many stock exhausts have just been sent away to heaven w/o being opened up yet to "just see".

Wait you you arent willing to cut open your exhaust for science? But you want other people to do it instead.. just to see if its worth it for you?

DHM is always saying that their big turbo kits will make the same power with stock exhaust as aftermarket.

I'm not sure I buy that 100% but it leads me to believe stock isn't so bad. If you have a stock turbo, the only reason to change is sound.

That's my point exactly Wimp Lo. When I modified my last OE exhaust, I got a tiny bit of sound and notable throttle response gains.

That's what I am afraid of seeing. There's doesn't seem to be a lot of room to hide some trickery in there other than packing unlike my previous car.
