Downpipe. Cat vs non cat

Alright so i live in a non emission testing state (New Mexico).
Im planning out my engine upgrades at the moment and had a question.
I know the DP is one of the best upgrades, but with living in a non emission testing state would it be more beneficial to me to get a catless DP such as one other than Cobbs? And will i be able to turn off the CEL with the AP?
Sorry for all the newb questions, just picked up my FiST!

Thanks

Actually for this car downpipe is not that beneficial. Intercooler & acessport, and a pro tune are going to be your best mods to start off with.

I personally have a catless downpipe and if you live in a non emission state then yeah go catless, why not. CEL can also be disabled through stage 3 Cobb map or by getting the car pro tuned (recommended). Happy modding :)

Careful about non emissions testing. New Mexico isn't truly exempt. Quite a few counties do smog testing. The rules apply to what county the vehicle is registered in.

My county is exempt. I live on an AFB in the middle of nowhere

A non-catted DP is not going to give you but maybe a few HP over a catted DP. If you're racing the car all the time then I can see the benefits, but for a street car, it just makes sense to keep the cat. That's my 0.02 cents anyway.
