Dealer filled the first tank with 87 octane, should I be concerned?

When I purchased my FiST, the dealer filled the tank with what I believe was 87 octane. I plan on filling it with premium 93 the next tank but I was told I should disconnect the battery to reset the ECU for the higher octane fuel?

don't worry, and continue with break-in. No need to disconnect the battery. just fill up with 93 next tank.

You are fine, and no harm will come by filling with lower octane. Enjoy your new ride!

Side note: When I bought mine, it had 13 miles on the odo and barely a 1/4 tank of gas. The dealer offered to fill it up at the "no name" gas station next door, and I politely refused saying that I would take it to be filled up on my own. I like Chevron and have read that their additive package is especially good for DI engines.

I live a block from Chevron and Shell so those are my top choices. I only use top tier fuel. Oregon is known for it's terrible gasoline so I only stock to those two name brands. Maybe a 76 or Texaco if I ever see them.

My brother worked for an engineering firm that does most of its work for the refineries in Anacortes Washington. He told me that Chevron was the best gas one could get, so it's my top choice. Second is Shell, but I hate to give money to Royal Dutch Shell. The gas that comes out of the refineries is the same no matter the brand--They all fill from the same giant tanks-- the difference is in the additive package that is added at the stations, and Techron- according to him-is the best package.

In fact - and if I remember correctly - the owner's manual states that 87 octane is recommended, but that for full performance you should use the higher octane. Now that gas is less expensive I've been buying premium with every fill-up, but when prices were up I used regular. Then again, most of my driving is (sadly) just grubbing around town doing the commute, etc., so performance wasn't that big a deal.
