It’s not the ‘RS’ model we wanted, but Ford has nudged up the performance numbers of its sporty hatch with the new Fiesta ST200.

The Fiesta ST200 gets some subtle improvements over the regular Fiesta ST starting with a recalibrated version of the former’s 1.6-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder that gains 18PS (18hp) and 50Nm (37 lb-ft) for a total of 200PS (197hp) and 290Nm (214 lb-ft) respectively.

These figures are temporarily increased to 215PS (212hp) and 320Nm (236 lb-ft) for up to 15 seconds using transient overboost.

The six-speed manual gearbox remains, but Ford’s engineers shortened the final drive ratio from 3.82 to 4.06. These updates help the ST200 reach 100km/h (62mph) in 6.7 seconds or 0.2 seconds faster that the plain ST, while top speed increases by 10km/h (6mph) to 230km/h (143mph).

Beyond the added power, Ford also fiddled around with the ST’s sport chassis giving it an enhanced Torque Vectoring Control and 3-mode Electronic Stability Control, modified front steering knuckles, a stiffer and 15mm lower suspension, a sharper and quicker steering rack, plus bigger rear brake discs.

To separate the Fiesta ST200 from its lesser sibling, the Blue Oval created an exclusive to this model Storm Grey paint and 17-inch machined black alloy wheels with red brake calipers. Inside, the ST200 gets unique partial leather Charcoal Recaro front seats and contrasting silver stitching, together with illuminated scuff plates and seatbelts with silver detailing

Sales of Ford’s new Fiesta ST200 will begin in June, with first deliveries before the end of summer.

Although I'm not too impressed with this release model, I'm still happy to see that its not just an appearance package....now with that said, it still won't be offered here in the US or Canada.

COLOGNE, Germany, Feb. 29, 2016 – The acclaimed Ford Fiesta ST compact hot hatch is about to get even hotter.

Ford will today reveal ahead of the Geneva Motor Show a new Ford Fiesta ST200 model that delivers 10 per cent more power and 20 per cent more torque, with 200 PS and 290 Nm from a specially calibrated 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.

The most powerful production Fiesta ever, the Fiesta ST200 will sprint from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.7 seconds, and will feature an exclusive specification including unique Storm Grey exterior, distinctive machined matt black alloy wheels and special interior detailing.

Production of the Fiesta ST200 begins in June with first deliveries to customers expected soon after.

A 4.06 ratio final drive – shortened from 3.82 in the Fiesta ST – further enhances in-gear acceleration for improved drivability and an even more fun to drive experience. Top speed is 230 km/h (143 mph).

Like the Fiesta ST, the ST200 delivers optimised cornering and agility using:

•Enhanced Torque Vectoring Control and 3-mode Electronic Stability Control
•A specially modified front steering knuckle
•An adapted rear twist-beam with increased roll-stiffness
•Unique front and rear spring and damper settings with a 15 mm lower centre of gravity
•Sharper 13.69:1 steering ratio and shortened steering arm
•Enhanced braking system with a larger tandem brake master cylinder and rear disc brakes

These changes sound like what we already have here in NA plus the extra output for 15 seconds to 212hp 236ft-lbs, which is exact mountune MP215 output numbers.

That sounds like MP215, wheels, illuminated sills, different color Recaros and a steeper final drive.

I think we might see the final drive, Recaros and wheels. I doubt we will get a different ECU calibration. I don't know if I would want that one because it sounds like Cobb stage 1 except with the first and second gear torque limiting still in place.

I would rather see a factory option LSD with recalibrated TVC.

The oft-rumored hotter version of the Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] Fiesta ST has finally been revealed. The car dons the ST200 moniker and as you may have guessed the number references the new power level. However, that’s power measured in metric horsepower. As measured in the United States, Ford’s new Fiesta ST200 would have 197 hp on tap.

The car has a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, just like the Fiesta ST. And yes the Fiesta ST also develops 197 hp but that’s only a temporary hit thanks to an overboost function. The Fiesta ST200 has its own overboost function that lifts peak output to 212 hp for bursts of 15 seconds. Peak torque meanwhile registers at 214 pound-feet normally and as much as 236 lb-ft with overboost.

A six-speed manual transmission remains standard but thanks to a new 4.06 final drive ratio—down from 3.82 in the Fiesta ST—you get better in-gear acceleration for improved drivability and an even more fun to drive experience. The 0-62 mph sprint takes 6.7 seconds, down from 6.9 seconds for the Fiesta ST, and the top speed comes in at 143 mph.

To distinguish the car from the regular Fiesta range, the Fiesta ST200 will be available with an exclusive Storm Gray exterior finish. You’ll also spot the special 17-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers, Recaro seats, illuminated door sills, and “ST200” badges.

Production will start in June for the European market. Ford hasn’t confirmed whether the Fiesta ST200 will hit local showrooms but we sure hope it does end up here. As much as we love the new Focus RS, its $36,605 starting price the car is still out of reach for many hot hatch fans. That’s where the Fiesta ST200 could fill the gap. Furthermore, the current Fiesta is on its way out as prototypes for the next-generation model have already been spotted. Launching the Fiesta ST200 here would be a good way to send out the current car.

I don't think that Motor Authority said anything substantially different than the other magazines. I still don't see it making over to the US but as some said Ford may just implement some of the parts into the next model year offering of our ST. Then we can expect to see a new Fiesta coming for the following year. On that note some (members in other postings) have already said that they don't believe that we will continue to receive an ST version of the Fiesta.... I tend to lean on that myself, as locally ST's tend to linger on lots even after being heavily discounted. If we do get it it'll be because of the 1 Ford plan and the 30,000 sold in Europe as stated by Autocar.

Correct me if I'm wrong the standard ST has redesigned front knuckles, stiffer rear t-bar, already 15mm lower, and 3 stage stability control (on, sport, off). Only change I see is a final drive & tune? Outside of cosmetic.

Not sure how accurate these pics are that Ford released of the FIST200 just before Geneva but does appear as if the FiST now has LED tail lights?

Correct me if I'm wrong the standard ST has redesigned front knuckles, stiffer rear t-bar, already 15mm lower, and 3 stage stability control (on, sport, off). Only change I see is a final drive & tune? Outside of cosmetic.
Yes, there is some misleading reporting of this. Some articles/posts make it sound like the differences between ST and base Fiesta are unique to the ST200, but they are not. The actual press release is clearer. I agree the only meaningful differences between ST200 and ST are the final drive and tune. Not sure this would be much of a meaningful upgrade for most of us.

Maybe someone with better understanding of transmissions/ratios can chime in, but wouldn't a higher final drive ratio (all else equal) mean that the car revs even higher at highway speeds? This thing already revs so high at highway cruise, I'm not sure it would be worth going higher just to gain a tenth of a second from 0-60.

Glad I'm not the only one that noticed this, also forgot the rear brakes are larger... And yes final drive would raise the revs in all gears cruising unless other adjustments were made to the individual gears ratios...ie sixth would be lengthened to compensate for the shorter final drive.

Also, they might have changed the Rev limiter to accommodate a higher top speed, though don't know how much would be necessary without fiddling with sixth gear ratio after shortening the final drive...

IMO clearly the FiST ST200 is simply being debuted in the guise of an "end of gen cycle" update with very slight revisions made in order to maintain interest until the "next gen" FiST is released...

I think this quote below captured it best...

They've modified the console: recontoured with a chrome surround.

The cubbyhole in front of the gearshift has been filled in with a logo and seat-heater switches.
