Bilstein Coilover Adjustment

I installed my Bilstein Coilovers yesterday (standard Fiesta set, part# 47-167490). The fronts at the factory setting just barely had the smallest amount of preload on the springs. I had to raise the front anyway due to having taller 205/45r17 tires, but at the factory setting I was concerned the springs would be too loose at full droop. For the rear, I have the adjusters almost all the way lowered (~5 threads left above the collar) just to remove most of the rake compared to the front after adjusting the front up to stop the massive rub I was getting.

For those of you with these coilovers, what kind of height adjustments have you made?

Dont have these coils but I am thinking about getting them. Do you have a '16 by any chance? Sorry was no help for the questions you asked.

No, I have a '14.

Update after driving on them for a day: I'm getting a bit of a clunk/clanging noise from the right rear. I don't hear anything when driving or any hard clunks over bumps, just a quiet noise when moving slowly going over small bumps/dips. I read on a different post about rotating the spring. I'll try that when I get home from work.

I have these coilovers. When I installed them i just took my time adjusting and got it to a ride height I was happy with - which was pretty low. Didn't notice any preload problems and haven't had any abnormal noises or anything. Before winter I raised them back up and haven't had any problems either.

Like any spring make sure it's fully seated. When I put in lowering springs in my 72 C10 a front spring clunked and I had to go back and rotate it correctly and seat it in the control arms. Also maybe double check the gaskets or whatever they are that are around the mounts on the rears.

Update on the noise: turns out the right rear spring was not oriented correctly in the bottom seat. There is a small hook on the plastic seat for the coil to go through that helps locate the spring. I think in adjusting the collar, I must have rotated the spring and pulled it out of the hook. There hasn't been any noise since.

As for the rub, I get it in two different scenarios, one is going over a bump or dip while turning and with the large 205/45 comp 2s and lower offset TD wheels, it catches the edge of the fender liner right at the edge of the fender. The other is on very large bumps, it clears the liner at the fender but it rubs further inboard where the bumper cover mounts to the fender. Smaller diameter tires should take care of the rub on large bumps. I'm looking to go down to 205/45r16 (hopefully on white Terras, but no luck finding any so far). But, if that doesn't work out, going back to a tire with a similar profile to the stock RE050as should give more than enough clearance.
