Hi All,

I have read as much as I can bear to through the intercooler info thread and it seems that the consensus is you can lose a bit of pressure with the bigger intercooler. That being said I went from a steady 21.5-22.0psi on Cobb Stage 1 to 19psi on Cobb stage 2. Everything seems tight am I to expect that significant of a drop? Tune+ coming soon but until then I feel a bit cheated lol.

Torque targets. Once you get to that target, the ecu says, "ahhh, that's good enough boys, back it down, keep it safe, reduce wear, we got it made".

Once the pro-tune kicks in, all bets are off. The ECU isn't going to go from making 185whp to 200whp without a fight. So... You were making about (lets just say) 185whp on 22psi. So now your making 185whp on 19psi.

That's why everyone says, "intercooler + pro-tune".

Hope that helps :)

Don't stress about the lower pressure. I've been in the same boat, spiking at 19.xx and occasionally 20.xx if being stupid and stepping on it hard in low 5th or 6th. It's totally normal and I even went as far calling MAP to confirm I wasn't going crazy the first day I installed it. Even smoke tested the system at work to check for boost leaks and everything was fine. Tune+ for me coming soon as well so just be patient and stop watching the boost gauge on the AP. I'm slowly training myself to not hawk on it everything I consider touching the throttle.

I've almost plunged twice with Adam, once on tune, once on brakes he was selling and both times wife guilt tripped me. She's still pissy about fmic fml. Let me know how the tune does for u!!!!

Hey jdubs, can you post some data using the Accessport about how efficient that intercooler is? Like charge air temperatures vs ambient temps during a pull. Datalogs would be even nicer if possible.

Yes, but it may take me a bit to gather. One I have my tune dialed in i'll be happy to. The weather has been working against me.

Would be greatly appreciated! I just bought a MAP intercooler too and wanted to see some data. Take all the time you need.

Yo! How do you like the MAP IC? I'm one click away from purchasing, but I'm doing last minute research as much as I can.

I have a MAP IC, no issues here. Works great, quality product. I'm in south Florida, so it gets a great work out constantly. Keeps the charge air temps within 10 degrees of ambient.

Take a look at Depo's FMIC. Seems to be higher quality than MAP's and it's much cheaper too. I love my MAP intercooler but I do have to recognize the competition.

I ended up ordering the MAP IC. Their customer service paired with the FiST knowledge is incredible. I have their intake, and can actually notice the power difference; even before I purchased my Cobb AP.

Hey, gonna bump this...

So just to be clear, is it bad if there is pressure drop from upgrading to a bigger intercooler? In otherwords, is there such a thing as the intercooler being too big? I don't want to have more lag, but I heard that's also a myth.?

I know this is reviving an old thread, but I'm curious as to what is higher quality about the Depo FMIC than the MAP FMIC. I know the MAP is more expensive, but the end tanks are CNC machined and it is made here in the US. MAP also stresses that it is 100% bolt in with no issues at all with air dam fitment once it is installed. The Depo has earned a great reputation here, and is significantly less expensive. I would like to hear opinions of how the 2 compare quality, fitment and function-wise.
