Airbag light on after switching seats

Today I bought a pair of Recaros for my base model ST. After installing them I noticed that the airbag light was on. Is there anyway to solve this? Also will the airbags still work?

Thanks.

Did you make sure the connectors where connected all the way? No wires being pinched?

Everything looks to be tight, and no wires pinched.

I hope this is a stupid question.
Is it possible you got the right seat on the left and vise versa?
The inline connectors (C300 & C3007) are both the same but wired differently.

Did you buy a set of factory Fiesta Recaros or are they just aftermarket ones without airbags? If that is the case you will need to add resistors.

But if you got some factory ones where did you get them!!! I have been looking for some with no avail :-(

Yes, they are factory Recaros. I bought them off of craigslist from a rolled over FIST. I would search craigslist and ebay every few weeks to see if any have popped up.

Ya I have been looking around. I see a lot of FoST ones I am tempted to try and see if I can make those fit.

If the seats are from a roll over, the air bags SHOULD have deployed. I would check for signs of tampering or replaced/repaired seat covers.

Having run a body shop for 8 years, I know a thing or two about airbags. This can be caused by a few different things.. If it was a roll over, the SRS system would've been activated and curtain as well as side airbags should've deployed. It's possible the seat bags were not deployed, but the signal for them to deploy may have burnt out he resistor in the airbag. You may have to bring it in to Ford for them to check it as only the dealer has the propriety software to test each individual airbag to determine if they are functioning properly or not. Did u try to turn off the code with your Accessport? I've never tried so I don't know if it will work or not. Did you disconnect the battery of the car while you swapped seats? Of not, disconnect the battery for 1 hour and then reconnect and start the car to see if it goes away. This is a simple way to reset if you didn't disconnect the battery when you swapped the seats. I would start with disconnecting the battery first and go from there.

If it is just the ECU reset, I would still have the seats checked out. Roll overs are no joke accidents and something should have happened with the air bags. If not that, then the seats would have at least been subject to a lot of stress and the frames may be bent. A few bucks and a couple hours of your time may save your life if you happen to be involved in a crash down the line.

Thanks for this! I will try this when I get a accessport.

The car the seats came from was a "beginners (learners)" track car. When I looked at the car for any other parts I could be interested in I noticed that none of the airbags went off. This definitely confused me. I may take it in to ford to see if the airbags are in working conditions.

It went away after I flashed the car with a accessport.
