X-37 accessories

About to pull the trigger on the X-37. My question to the forum is about charge pipes and downpipe. Is a complete kit worth it? Depo vs MAP. Or is the hot side is all that is needed?

Secondly, is a catless downpipe a catless downpipe? For example Depo vs MAP.

Both are fine products but they have big price differences and similar raw materials.

On a different note what is the largest turbo you can swap and retain factory fuel system.

Thanks

From what I can tell MAP charge pipes are a more complete kit as Depo doesn't replace the full cold side pipe. I personally like the look of the MAP stainless steel charge pipe as well as adding in a turbosmart BOV. Either set will do fine just pick what you prefer.

As far as fueling the stock injectors seem to max out at 280-300hp mark which the X-37 and cyborg can hit. Anything larger than these and then the high pressure fuel pump doesn't seem fully able to sustain required fuel pressures at lower rpm. In cases of needing more fuel you can either go to meth injection which can also help reduce charge air temps depending on what mixture ratio you run. More methanol means more fuel but less cooling, more water means more cooling but less fuel. Other options for more power is adding port or throttle body fuel injectors using an aux injector controller.

Thanks. I agree about the MAP products. Do you need to add a turbo smart BOV with a x-37?

You'll want a new hotside pipe, but a full intercooler pipe set is a waste of money. As far as downpipes go, no. All things are not created equal, whether catted or not. You want one with the smoothest bends and transitions. I suggest Dead Hook, ATP, or cp-E. In reality, the GTX2867r or equivalent is about as big as you can go to keep decent spool and power. However, a 2560 - 2860 will provide the best power[band] without the need to upgrade fuel. Bam88 said it well (although, backwards, as it's high rpm when the HPFP taps out because it's driven by a lobe on the cam)...what we're really looking at is the power levels or the fuel you're using... Again and again, we see the stock system tapping out around 300whp.

Ah crap my bad, should of known better than high rpm taps out...... Same thing as mazdaspeeds....... Was a derp day yesterday lol..... I kinda want to take apart one of our HPFPs now and see if the insides are similar to the speeds as there may be a way to upgrade the internals to achieve more flow at the top end the same way you do with those. Now you have me thinking, just too bad the fuel injectors max out as well or this would be able to net use some more fuel. Yes I agree cold side won't net you any more power or flow but there is an aesthetic value to them as well as value in superior clamping when running higher boost and less likely to blow couplers during a pull.

Thanks. I agree about the MAP products. Do you need to add a turbo smart BOV with a x-37?
You don't "need" a new/different bpv or bov as the X-37 was built to be a drop in replacement with no part changes. However if you have the money an upgraded bpv or bov is a good idea. For one they can hold more pressure and good quality ones will react faster. Also I much prefer boost activated ones instead of the factory electronic valve. There are a few options to pick from depending if you want all the psssssh or if you are trying to keep it quite or if you want something in between.

You guys are a wealth of knowledge. Greatly appreciated. So much information available on the forums.

The x-37 seems like the most logical choice since the factory fueling is limited to 300whp and that is as far as you can push the x-37. I just wanted to compile a list of support mods that I need. I have the equivalent of stage 2 now. MAP intake and intercooler.

So far it seems like:
Hot side charge pipe (cold not worth it)
Down pipe-

Anything else? Actuator? New spark plugs?

E30 I will do. Meth is a no go. The style of racing I enjoyed the most isn't good for this platform. Or at least nobody has ever done it.
1/2 mile events.

I've done a few 1/2 mile events. I actually work for Wannagofast so when I take my car, I slide in a few races. Stock turbo "stage 3" 93oct was 115mph near sea level. Cyborg, at 240ish whp did 119mph at 3800ft on 93oct with Torco.

Having seen thousands of cars run over the years, I suspect at 300whp 125-130mph with a wide powerband.

An upgraded actuator and step colder plugs would be a nicety. But, that's something to speak with your tuner about.

I did the Ocala wannagofast a couple of years ago. That's sweet you ran your car there as well. What do you think your car could do now with the GTX2867?

I was there then! I'm the black guy that was at the start, before the burnout box lol. Didn't bring my car to Ocala, though. Too far of a drive from the St. Louis area. I've had it at Hot Springs, VA, and Chicago (when we had that location). As it sits, with nice cool weather (350-360whp in vdyno), maybe 132 - 135.

Hijinx,

Thanks for the feedback. Helped me realign my goals a bit. You have the fastest car here, I appreciate the knowledge. It's nice to know what is possible and what isn't before chasing the rabbit down the hole.

I haven't maxed the car or gone as fast as you have been. How stable is the car? Pierce motorsports bracing make a big difference?

I was there when the underground racing lambo spun into the water. Tell your bosses to bring back KTNT, aka Miami Mile. It would sell out like Ocala does in minutes. 10,500 ft runway.

I don't think the owner is interested in doing a mile event, but I'm pretty sure he knows about the runway. Anyway, the Lamborghini that went in the water was a Heffner built O.B. Prestige car. Also, I'd love the honor of being the fastest car here, but that belongs to DHM (aka The Mastermind), Rodmoe and FearTheSnail. My car might have the power, but I haven't proven her just yet. More to come very soon, though!

It wouldn't surprise me if the high pressure fuel pump was a similar design, if not the same. The Fiesta and Mazda2 were designed and put together when Ford still had a controlling interest in Mazda. Mazda did most of the small car platform development for the Ford/Mazda/Volvo group towards the end of their relationship, and shared technology was the name of the game for the group.
