Everything I've read about the integration said "Summer 2016," but here we are and we don't have the update yet. Has anyone heard/read a specific date?

If I had to guess a release time, it would be August/September. I'm betting they will wait until the 2017 models are released as they will probably come with that software from the factory.

It should would be nice to hear from Ford, but they've been extremely silent on it. Sad actually.

While I agree it would be nice to hear from Ford, it is really risky to give a deadline on software delivery before its' ready. The software deployment may be different for our '16 cars since they flash the software from the factory with the latest version on the 17's, we have to update it over wifi and I guarantee you getting it on the '17 model vehicles is the priority over getting the '16 update packaged and out the door. I suspect it will be a month (usual software development cycle) after the 17's hit the lots that we get our update.

You sure? From the sound of it I figured the Android Auto compatibility would be an update we could get over WiFi. I mean we have Sync 3, all we need is the programming. I did read somewhere that if you have an iPhone you have to go in, but I didn't think that was for the Android Master Race.

While I don't know the actual practices at Ford, I would be surprised if Ford is using wifi to put software on the 2017 model year vehicles. While I expect the updated software itself that is going to go to our head-units will be the same as the '17 model year vehicles, I'm not sure if they have it ready to be deployed as a wifi update at the same time they have the software ready to be put on the 2017 model year vehicles. I suspect they flash the software to the vehicles by a more direct method.

I worked in the automotive industry for a while and I now work in the software industry so this is just an educated hunch.
