Cleaning COBB Air Panel Filter with K&N Kit

I googled to try and determine if I could use the K&N kit to clean the COBB filter. Wondering if anyone has any feedback on this. Read that it should be ok to use it, but that it will change the color of the filter. Is this true? And if so, is it something I should be concerned about.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I haven't yet but that's my plan for the mountune filter I have .. don't worry. So it turns red. big deal.
