Question about washing old towels/mitts

I have microfiber towels and mitts that I used a couple months ago that i still haven't washed. Would it be ok to use them still if I wash them? Some have wax/polish residue on them and probably one or two towels have either brake dust or carbon from muffler tips.

Idk if I should just throw them out or if it's safe to wash them and use them on my new car.

You can wash them. Put some all purpose cleaner or degreaser in the wash and it'll help break up the old wax residue. Add in 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle to restore softness. Tumble or hang dry, don't use any fabric softeners.
