Thats ridiculous. I just telling him to stick to the facts, don't lie, but don't shoot yourself in the foot by calling it street racing, if the police didn't then it isn't.

If one calls their insurance to say they were (a) speeding (b) were clipped by another car and (c) injured/may be injured and (d) their car is totaled; an insurance adjuster will ask for the police report in the matter. Now the OP needs to make a police report post facto and selectively omit facts (like street racing) to both an adjuster or on a police report. That's at best 2 misdemeanors, significant restitution in the criminal matter, and civil exposure. Plus they're still on the hook for the car they totaled

If it were so simple then everyone who was involved in solo wreck would claim uninsured motorist hit & run.
Look at the rear passenger quarter panel.
If he did what you proposed, (minus the lawyer who would NOT recommend that,) he would definitely be imprisoned or on parole.
The poster is doing it right. Take responsibility and move on.

Annnnddd up goes my insurance premiums.

Grow up, they said. Get something that won't get you killed when it rains out they said, that is a bit more conservative on maintenance and gas, and that you can start a family with they said.

I should go back to RWD sports coupes where I was paying about 50 bucks a month or a motorcycle where I paid 80 bucks a year.

Glad you're okay and hopefully you've learned your lesson.

I also would be interested in some pieces if you were to part out.

    AND A PSA
We may all bomb on the on-ramps, blast the bov, chirp off the line, stick it in the corner and do a few pulls with another car guy, but the moment *before* it becomes a chase, aggressive driving, or any driving that may put you or others in danger, remember, you're not only hurting yourself, but also the community as a whole. And then we have more rules, higher costs, and less opportunity for tracks, strips, autocrosses, rallies, and shows. The STs have so far escaped the stigma that is carried with the Honda bros, the STI bros, the crowd-searching Mustangs etc. Let us all keep it that way.

Maybe all you naive choir boys should trade your STs in on self driving Prius's

Does anyone want to refute my recommendation the he go see a lawyer,
plenty of accident lawyers around who offer free consultations
We are all just speculating on the legal ramifications

If we're getting the whole story then, yes, a visit to a lawyer will certainly lay out OP's options to him. I still question OP's story. What makes more sense, in my mind, is that that the police showed up, wrote this up as a single car accident, and reported it to the lien holder and OP is dealing with a pissed-off bank. I don't want to call BS if there is no BS and I completely understand why OP left the thread given our finger waggling comments at his time of sorrow, but the whole "he clipped me and totaled my car on a freeway onramp but there isn't a police report" deal doesn't add up to me.

Great idea. I hear the new silver Prius is the color to get. Also, maybe those among us who don't support street racing or insurance fraud can make sure this thread makes it to the state department of insurance. Hate for there to be any discrepancies in how the story is presented with all the great legal advice in here. Falsifying an insurance claim, falsifying a police report, and if deposed, perjury, are serious matters.

Good point. I'm not sure we are getting the whole story about injuries. The OP doesn't say anything about injuries,
He said he hit a wall at 50MPH And from the photos the airbags deployed.
If he got out with no injuries, thats a pretty good advertisement for the safety of the car.
