DC voltage while driving...Ford Adaptive Charging

Noticed that the Fiesta and many new Fords use an adaptive smart charging system for the DC voltage system. Most cars with the traditional DC charging system operate between 13.5-14.8 V DC while driving. To save fuel and reduce alternator load Ford has designed a very smart system that can operate from 12.1v -14.8 V DC depending on the battery health and power demands. I've noticed that while driving my accessport and DMM reads about 12.45 V DC and 13.5 VDC with the headlights on.

What voltage are you guys and gals seeing while driving? I was worried that the charging system was faulty but it appears this is how the system was designed to operate.
