Yeah that's alright. What kinda numbers and spool in the 2500-3500 range? I'm thinking this might be the way to go if only for the name and reputation of mountune.

Doing just a straight 3rd gear pull, starting at 2500 to redline WOT. The MRX hit peak boost 300 rpm slower than my x37.
But of course hit an overall higher peak HP and had way more top end than my hybrid.

I really wanna get this thing down to sea level with some 93 and let her rip. Its really impressing me.

I plan to do a video with drivability comments and whatnot.

Only a 300rpm drop in spool is more than acceptable for the increase in top end, Imo. Your overall power curve is still bigger. Plus you stay out of boost a bit more in daily driving. This kit is impressing me.

Has anybody installed this kit themselves? How was it? Everything fit?
I installed it all myself.
Everything fit exactly how it should

Cool, thanks. I've never done anything this involved and I'd be doing the install myself. Now does Mountune give you a base tune so you can safely drive the thing after install?

*whispers softly* Stratified.....

Just be thorough and don't skip steps and you shouldn't be too hard off. It's a pretty straight forward part swap. Replace all gaskets you touch.

*disclaimer* this is NOT the final revision.

Two shown.

One at sea level.
One at 4,300 ft in altitude. (clearly the lower one)

Shitty New Mexico 91 octane gas.

Wanted to do a video today with comments but didn't get around to it.
So I'll make it brief.

I love this turbo.
It pulls so hard and so linear. Feels amazing.
There's zero lag between shift changes and definitely none on down shifting.

Of course the question asked many times, how's the lower rpm end.
Well, as you can see. It's pretty unexciting. But I prefer it that way.
I really don't need 24 pounds of boost at 2500 rpm.
I honestly can't remember or recall a situation in which I'd ever want peak boost at 2.5k.

If I'm doing around town city driving, I try to keep off boost for one, to save gas, and two, so I don't look like a tool for kicking tires off every damn stoplight.

Also, like I've said before, shit breaks down low.
It hasn't been said in years but, everyone remember LSPI!? [emoji23]

This thing is ripping around like a freight train for me, makes SUCH smooth power, and I never see lag when I want boost.
I know it's a reliable unit that'll last for a LONG time being a Garrett unit.
And it's backed by Mountune's superior customer service.

I'm making near 300 to the wheel on straight 91... 91 guys.
Hoping to iron out the pump tune soon and start on meth.
Hopefully e30 if I can find some. Nearest pump is 2 hours.

Thanks guys!

Hey Brura22 question did you notice if the vband flange was "portmatched" like skittles used to do? I emailed mountune to see if they will be willing to sell just the compressor itself since I am already running the 2554r kit.

Like Brura said, after 3000 rpm it pulls like crazy and it doesn't drop like the stock turbo. I'm currently on the second map randy sent me and it's looking way better right now. Continuing to datalog at the moment.

It's actually way larger than the manifold lol.
You could port the stock manifold and still be smaller than the vband adapter they included.

Oh wow... [emoji15] thanks! After seeing the numbers on 91 ( all we have In az) I may go with this kit ! But it seems kind of pointless to get everything included since I have it all pretty much already.

Sounds like this is the winner. I wonder if you would see any spool increases with a better flowing manifold. Looks great and I agree; you wouldn't want any more power any lower for exactly the reasons you said.

Air volume is a wonderful thing. Your charge air temps are probably way lower than with the stock turbo too.

Looking at that graph makes me happy. And there's still 120lbft of torque at 2500rpm, for those who are completely hung up on the bottom half. That is more than enough to get through traffic. I just love how linear it is.
