I have a set of Rota Titan's on the way in 17x7.5 40 offset. I want to run Nitto Neo Gen 215/40's as an all season as we don't see much snow here in New Mexico. I've read that the section width on the Nitto's is 9". Will I have an issue with rubbing at all? Has anyone run these on a 7.5 wheel? Thank you for any info folks.

You should be just fine with this setup. I run something very similar - 17x8 ET25 up front (ET45 in rear) with 215/40-17 Federal 595RSRR, no issues whatsoever - not very close to any kind of rubbing.

I run the same exact tire (which is 8.5" section width, as compared to the 8.86" section width Neo gens, but that is pretty much washed by the .5" wider wheel they are mounted to, and the same exact listed overall diameter as the NGs) as AZST above on a set of 1.2s 17x8 ET42 all around, and it looks like I could lower the car > 1.0" from the current factory ride height, and not even come close to rubbing anywhere. ;)

The Neo Gen is a really great tire, and IF it were not listed as an 'all season', I would even have considered it for a possibility on these wheels (I HAD TO HAVE a pure UHP/Max/Extreme SUMMER tire on these wheels!).

As it is, I am considering it (in the factory, or the 205/45-17 sizes) for a replacement on the factory Rados when the PS AS/3s finally wear out, to use as an 'in-between' setup, i.e.; too cold for the RS-RRs, but DRY, as in NO snow/ice. [wink]

I run the same exact tire (which I believe is wider than the Neo Gens in BOTH section and tread width) as AZST above on a set of 1.2s 17x8 ET42 all around, and it looks like I could lower the car > 1.0" from the current factory ride height, and not even come close to rubbing anywhere. ;)
Thank you both a ton! Can't wait to get everything setup on the Nitto's! Kudos fellas!

I got the same wheels on the way good to know
I just put up a few photos on the Photos and Media section. Might give you an idea of how a 215 will look and how well the wheels fill up the fender. Can't wait to see you post some as well!

I've only put about 100 miles on them (city and highway mix) so far but I'm impressed. Doesn't seem to have any loss of grip from the 14k mile RE050's they replaced. The ride is smooth and there is no noticeable road noise. For the price, they seem like a steal.

So just to piggy back on this, Sorry i suck with wheel sizing and tire stuff. So i found a pretty great deal on some xxr 527 in 17x7.5 with a +40. what would be the better tire size to go with on stock suspension the neo gen 225/40 or the 215/40? thanks for any input i appreciate it.

^^^I personally would go for the 215/40-17 in these, for a little stretch/'square' to the wheel setup.
Many on here will tell you to go for MAX stretch, and use the 205/40-17, or 205/45-17, but I am guessing you want the 'visual' of a wider tire. [dunno]

Nitto (like ALL other street tire manufacturers) does NOT make a 225/40-17, just a 225/45-17, which is really too tall (even though it might not rub at factory ride heights), AND it is really not any wider in tread width (the overall width is only .02" wider than the 215/40) than their 215/40-17.

Awesome, thanks for all the input. I will be going with a 215/40-17.
