Are the Bridgestone G-FORCE SPORT COMP-2 still recommended? I'm looking at the 195/55R15 size. I don't track the car but I want a good handling tire for the daily onslaught to work and back. This seems to be a popular choice for this wheel, just checking to see if that's still the case. Thanks!

Wheels are a 35 offset if that makes a difference.

The comp-2's are getting a bit old but they are still a good tire. I do not really know what to recommend in that size. Dunlop Star Specs are mentioned alot.

Excellent choice on the wheels. I'd go with Nitto NeoGen 205/50/15 A/S 280 tread wear. They're cheap ($70) and surprisingly sticky from what I've heard. Or Rival S 1.5 225/45/15 for ultimate grip.

Love my direzzas. They grip well and have been wearing phenomenally. 205/50R15 fits wonderfully.

You bet. Post back on what you end up getting.
I will and I'll post a pic of the car when I get them on. I'm leaning towards the Sport Comp 2s just based on how well liked they are. I don't really think there's a real wrong choice based on what you all have suggested. :)

Agree with M sport. Whats the weight of 225/45/15's and the 1.2's? Those tires must be pretty heavy right?

To me, the whole point of a 15x8 is to be able to run a 225/45-15, or even a 225/50-15, but yeah, none made in >200 tread wear. [:(]
From what I've researched the advantage of the 15x8 with a 205 is that the bit of stretch gives you more feedback on the track and improves turn in. With a taller sidewall you lose a bit of it, so the 205 on the 8" is to compensate for that, so you can have reduced rate and still have that quick turn in.

But that's just what I've read. I'm thinking about getting the same 15x8 wheels in the near future so I've been doing my homework.
225 wide certainly interests me as I like the look of a square set up, but I'll be lowering with Mountune springs soon so not sure if that'll rub.

It'll rub. 205s rub on some cars that are lowered.

215 or maybe 225 would be the max on an 8 before you start getting too much sidewall. And I'd be looking at like, a 40 series, imo.

205/50 is the best we can do as far as maintaining tire height, sidewall rigidity and treadwidth. 215/45 would be awesome, but would likely rub at lower than stock height without fender work.

^^^IF this is really the case, then I give up on 15x8s, and will stick with my 17x8s with a 215/40 on them.

I am NOT looking for MAXIMAL, all-out track perfection, if I were, yes, I would find the absolute most ZERO weight wheels I could put on the car (yup, even if it meant having to do the hub conversion I so despise) which still clear the biggest front brakes I would need, and then put a set of 00 tread wear slicks on them (or at least 40-100 tread wear gummies).

A 200 tread wear tire, NOT 'stancer stretched' on a medium weight, but strong wheel is MORE THAN I will EVER need, or be able to use on the street, and yes, it does look pretty mean as well. ;)

Yup! The wider rim maximizes the benefit of a 225/45x15 tire. I found 7.5 X15 Rota slipstream wheels. At the time. I tried them on my basc Fiesta i was trying to increase grip without adding much weight. I did find that grip was increased. But, all that friction sucked up quite a bit power to maintain speed. The Fiesta ST should be able to really use that extra grip. I really want to try a set of full race (IE;slick radial racing tires) on my 7.5 Rota's!

It seems like more tire choices are in the 17s

I would love the benefit of the 15s but seems most people on here run the 15x8 with a 205

But even lowered cars are running 17x8 with a 215. So I'm all for the wider meat

Some even lowered with a WIDER 215/40-17 than I am running, a few with even a little more offset (40 vs. my 42)!! [crazyeye]

One also NEVER has to worry about running big brakes (yes, I know, waaayyy OVERKILL for the street) with a 17, unless you are looking at tarmac rally spec brakes, which require 18s.

Yeah the 215/40-17 really isn't that much more sidewall than the OEM 205/40-17, a mere 8mm. So that doesn't shock me that much that it fits. If I stick with the 17x7 wheel I'll be torn between those two sizes. I just really don't like the very low profile tires, I like a bit of meat in the sidewalls.
Maybe TD will make a 16x8 in 4x108 LOL JK NEVER FML
