New 16x8 Wheel Incoming - Konig Dekagram

I just posted on another thread about the Dekagram then saw this rather long thread......:)

16x8 is the absolute best all around wheel size for this car and that is one hell of a good wheel in price, quality and style as well as very low weight and flow formed so strong enough for any kind of racing, etc....

Not sure if said here or elsewhere but DO NOT have wheels powered coated as it weakens them especially if heat treated as some wheels are and flow formed wheels are made from cast wheels with heated and rolled rims.

If these where available in 2014 I would not of been the first to do the 4x100 bolt pattern change, the first and only one to run 9" wide wheels under rolled and pulled fenders, the first and only one to do a rear camber change nor built front and rear BBK's to fit under 15's, a hell of a lot of work and money invested in one off projects.

Those just wanting the best overall setup for the time and money and performance value need look no further:)

Only thing I would consider is running +35's instead of the +40s though technically +40 is more appropriate and might even be a bit faster do to scrub radius issues.

I have had 7 or 8 sets of wheels and tires for this car and hundreds over the last 50 years on modded cars all the way up to full out $100k race car builds so have a pretty good idea of what works and does not work and why the lowest weight proper fitting quality wheel is the way to go for real performance, better ride and less wear on the chassis:)

Thanks for the Summit link. I went ahead and purchased through them since performance plus tires didn't seem to have much info nor responded to my email about these rims.

Very cool they fit over the standard BBK's. I bought a set of RPF1 in 16x8 that fit over my DIY BBK's but would not of fit over the standard WW kit.
I did not run the RPF1 because I realized I could fit the 11.4 lb, 15x8, 949 Racing 6UL over my brakes with just a little pulling of the calipers in towards the axle and was going to make a new set of caliper mounts already due to the first being a test set. I like the style of the 6UL, lighter weight, lower cost, better color choice for my taste and I had already ran the RPF1 on several cars over the years, was even partially sponsored by Enkei at one time.

For those of you with the Dekagram or willing to wait, you have made very solid decisions on the best high quality wheel for this car for the money there is, period:)

Here is a very informative though a bit long winded and silly at some points video on Konig their ties to Enkei, Advanti (which I learned is making some F1 wheels) OZ, etc......

With the quality of these and other wheels made as well there is simply no need to go to forged monoblock or multipiece wheels unless you have very specific reason as the added cost will not be worth it if looking just for strength alone, these are plenty strong enough:)

(I have owned 3 piece BBS race wheels with magnesium centers, monoblock custom made wheels up to 18x13, forged center roll formed 3 piece wheels, etc.....my last full race car project was a 2300 95 M3 with 600HP forged LS and I was going to put flow formed wheels on it knowing there were all the wheel quality a very fast road race car would need)

So does anyone remember the weight of the 16x8 and the cost for the bronze ones? Also, do you guys know if these wheels need hubcentric rings? I know it’s a lot of questions I’m asking and I thank you in advance for the answer. If you like you can pm me.

So, what’s the opinion on 45 series vs 50? Would 225’s fit without rubbing on a fist lowered on swift springs?

It probably depends on the tire it would def have to be 45 series if you went 225 lowered an inch even then it's gonna be a difficult fit with no rubbing without some fender pulling or rolling or other mods. That's just my opinion.

Makes sense. Thing that sucks is we need a guinea pig to see what’s what.

Always look at the real specs, not sidewall markings or listings on sites, etc....then you can figure out the best tire fitment per wheel size.

A 50 in many 16's will be pretty tall, speedo will be off a bit, more weight at the tread, slower acceleration, longer braking zone.....

Tirerack has the most tires listed with real specs, if not there then the manf site is usually the best place to go.

If you want to list exactly what you are looking for in a tire I any others interested could help you pick the best setup:)

All important but not in exact order of precedence as we all have our own needs so this is a generic list for anybody to consider.

1) Wear, how long do you hope to make them last, commuter use, track, etc.....?
2) Budget?
3) Summer only, AS, winter, etc....?
4) Autocross, track days, canyon runs, etc?
5) Wheel choice?
6) Lowered, stock height, raised (hope not slammed as that is the worst you thing you can do to ruin the handling)
7) One set of wheels and tires, 2 or 3 sets for different uses?

I have looked at all the options dozens of times but still go back and look again before making any decisions as things change in the tire world and or my use/need can change easily as well.

There are not a lot of performance options in 16" but some pretty good ones, likely more in AS, winter, etc....

I really want these but can't find a "square" fitting, slightly taller than OEM UHP tire.

I drive crap roads with potholes and bash the hell out of my wheels so any poke or stretch is out of the question.

I have to hit the road but later today I can take a look and see what is available to meet your needs.

In your situation you will be better off with a bit wider tire than I normally like to run on an 8" wide wheel but it will give a bit more cushion and sidewall/rim protection.

Budget range?

Strictly UHP or MPS OK as well?

Budget is around 100$ per tire but there's wiggle room. I want the maximum performance out of a tire I can daily and still get 15K+ miles out of. Right now I'm only seeing 200treadwear and below tires in my size. Prefer not to run high noise tires or something I have to baby in the wet.

Stock height.

Plan B is a 205/50 on a 16x7 rota slip but not as pretty as these konigs
