First and foremost, I am a buyer of this part, not a friend or company rep, just wanted to share my experience.
Just ordered the Ventus Veloce true carbon fiber hood for the FiST. Should be here Tuesday. I wanted to share that the experience thus far has been one of the BEST experiences with customer service I have experienced in ages. Thomas, the Ventus Veloce rep, sent me a text at 5:08pm last Wednesday a few hours after I submitted an email with questions on their website, as he wanted to get back to me as soon as possible despite the office being closed.
I asked a ton of questions about fitment for USA models (website shows install on a 2 door ex-US FiST) to which he explained the hood fits great albeit with a very small 1/8" gap near the headlights due to slight width differences for the US compared to the rest of world 2 door model. He explained he was anal about stuff and wanted to be transparent but that otherwise it fit great. I appreciate this level of honesty, I did not get the same when inquiring with Seibon about their hoods.
Secondly, their CF hood is pure carbon fiber, NOT a fiberglass hood with a CF overlayment like Seibon. I feel Seibon's advertising if very misleading in this regard. Seibon's hood appears to lack appropriate webbing for structural rigidity on the underside of the hood and requires hood pins too. Ventus' hood does not require pins and utilizes the factory mounting bracket arms and has a factory style latch.
The exterior of the hood has two molded in vents (as compared to bolt on hood vent inserts like other items on the market) and has water blockoff covers for the underside included with the hood. The hood comes in primer black or in a true automotive clearcoat from Ventus, which is a nice plus as compared to a gel coat which requires additional painting. Mine will be getting several coats of CQuartz to help protect it and I'm glad the clearcoat will allow a proper bond.
Weight of the hood is about 16lbs which is around 11lbs lighter than stock which is great. During the sales process, Thomas exchanged 15-20 texts with me to answer all my questions promptly and sent pictures of the weave (from a valance which was on hand for pics), sticker options (which I declined) and even the actual hood I would be getting boxed up and ready to ship. They are located in New Jersey so I should receive it promptly I believe.
I will add plenty of pictures and install notes when it arrives next week but thus far, kudos to Thomas and Ventus Veloce for their FANTASTIC customer service thus far! They will have a US market FiST rear valance available in the next few months per Thomas and I look forward to picking that up as well.
