    Oil Catch Can Comparo Thread

    We have a number of vendors that have recently released or will soon release catch cans. They each have their own threads, and a number of people have asked in those threads--which one is better and what are the differences. I thought it made more sense to start a seperate thread on neutral territory to discuss the various catch cans and compile impressions, as people get them installed.

    I'm leaning towards Mishimoto as I don't want to have to jack up the car to empty it. Also mishi's is literally plug and play with the included connectors with their hoses. Easier to return to stock setup quickly if needed (for whatever reason) as the OEM hose is left as is. The only issue I might have with mishi's is it might be a little messy with oil residue remaining on the top portion dripping into the engine bay/floor. Gotta have the paper towel ready to catch the drip.
    But getting messy is part of car maintenance so no biggie.

    JBR's might be good if I had ramps. Drive up, twist valve and empty into a container. Done. I'm still not sure if a check valve is a must in these or is just a redundancy/precautionary item.

    Not too concerned with the baffling/filtration as I'm sure all of them will do the job.

    I'm still waiting for full details on Boomba's before pulling the trigger.


    Edit: I see Mishi's has an option to add a drain kit but for $45.00. Expensive (IMO) for what it is, but the option is there if you ever need it.

    One differentiation:
    - install location believe Mishimoto is near the passenger headlight the other are at the passenger strut; this could be of importance for RHD
    - Mishimoto is only black but have hose colour option
    - Mishi and Boomba have the (or so said) the OEM PCV connections on the hoses (provided) for true plug and play
    - Boomba is largest by volume
    - Mishi is lifetime warranty (if it matters can't really break a billet can)
    - JBR available now, Boomba soon, Mishi end of August
    - Boomba has a lot of other under hood accessory that will match in style and looks.

    To be honest I feel non are a bad choice. Just a matter of personal preference or a nuance you feel one has over the other.

    Has Boomba confirmed location? Last I saw, they said they were looking at location around the battery box, but maybe that's old info.
