What made you decide to buy a Fist?

I couldn't afford the Focus RS, and the Fiesta ST was 5K cheaper then the Focus ST (which is what I originally wanted to buy).

Some days I regret not spending the extra for the Focus ST, but I fall in love with my Fiesta a little bit more everyday.

I have never owned a car that wasn't at least ten years old. I went from a 2000 Nissan Altima to a 2016 Fiesta ST. Life is good. In 5 years I will have the Focus RS, hopefully I will be making more money by then.

I drove a 2007 Ford Ranger into the ground. It was my 3rd ranger (2 of the 3 with over 200K miles). The only one that didn't make it over 200K was lost in a wreck when I was young and not paying attention. Since the Ranger is no longer an option, I wanted to look at cars. I live in Northern Indiana close to the lake and the winter can be brutal. I have a 4x4 for the worst of it.

I went into this wanting smaller car that got decent gas mileage. I was considering an Abarth, but it's just a little too small. I don't need much of a back seat, but I do need one that's quasi-functional. I wanted something fun and had read a couple years ago about the FiST. It didn't cross my mind again until I had looked at some Subaru's, Nissan's, and just about every other make and model you can imagine.

When it came down to bang for the buck on a stock car I kept coming back to the FiST. I started checking inventory and it was hit and miss. The dealers in Indiana just weren't willing to negotiate on their prices at all. I was discouraged. My folks had used a dealer in Ohio so I figured I'd give them a call. As fate would have it, they had a tuxedo black 2016.

I talked to them at 5PM and told them what I wanted to pay. They called me back 10 minutes later and said you have a deal. I drove to Ohio that night, picked it up at 7:30PM (they were kind enough to stay open late for me to get it) and that was all she wrote. I'm really enjoying this car. My son thinks it's a racecar ha! [burnout]

Ordered a 17M Focus RS back in July to replace my S2000.
Sold the S2000 since the RS arrived at the port in New Jersey.
The next day after I sold the S2000, wife and I talked and decided it would be best to get a cheaper car.
Called my dealer told him find me a Kona Blue Fiesta ST with Recaros and Navi.
Dealer found the exact car I wanted and I picked it up a few days after my first call.
Liking the Fiesta so far...

Besides the 4K discount under list for employee discount and year end model clearance, I actually sat down to do car math (power/weight ratio, displacement/weight ratio, drag co-efficiency, etc) and it is logically smart to go with the Fiesta ST then Focus ST. I won't let turbocharged 0.4 liters of absent displacement cloud my judgement, it was mainly about a 2700lb car vs 3200lb car. Both engines are capable of putting out high numbers, both are fwd, and a lighter fwd car will grip better then a heavy fwd car. That's why my Escort ZX2 smoked all Focus's mod for mod, and I mean ALL Focus's up until 2013 when the ST came out, including the SVTF. In my world, the Fiesta is the successor of the Escort, and the Focus is successor of the Contour/Mondeo/Cougar.

The big thing for me was Matt Farah at the SmokingTire. He bought one and seemed to love it, the guy knows his cars. That and the back seat of the BRZ/GT86 is too small for daily kid duty. Plus I didn't feel like it was responsible to spend STI/Focus RS money at the moment.

My main reason was price. Got my base model FiST for 18k (before taxes) and the Focus I liked was 25k. If it was only a grand or so difference I probably would have went with the FoST but it's too expensive, too heavy and too underpowered for the price but that's just my opinion.

I was looking for a car that I could use on long trips instead of my '86 911. A 31 year old car with 125k miles is not to be trusted. I wanted something that got good gas mileage but was fun to drive. Life is too short to drive dull cars. I was looking at GTis (since I've owned 2) but they were more than I wanted to spend. The Focus and Fiesta STs looked good and had great reviews. The Fiesta ST was available at my local dealer and they had very good end of year discounts. The rest is history. So far I am very happy with my choice.

I had a Subaru STI (2004) that was getting old and expensive to fix and I needed to get a reliable car to commute in. Figured the Fiesta ST was the cheapest fun car I could get new and the reviews were very positive, so I ordered one without ever even seeing one in person. Turns out it's the most fun car I've ever driven.

It was love at first turn.

I've owned a Focus ST for about three years (I needed a bigger car at the time) but always had the FiST in the back of my mind. I saw a different FiST three days in a row last week so I went to test drive one on a whim yesterday and walked away 500lbs lighter.

I love being able to floor it driving around town, the quick turn in, more brake feel than the FoST and of course the lighter curb weight.

Needed a smooth daily. Was spending a ton of cash every few weeks in my truck or my little hoopdee and was getting stranded. Credit is butchered/was so I figured hell, if I can get approved, and ford turned me 20k allowance, so I got the nicest thing on the lot for 20k. I knew about the cars, wanted the focus for the extra room, but I am not disappointed in the slightest.

It was an impulse buy, but I rationalized it as needing a reliable car that got good gas mileage for the long road trips I take a couple times a year. I would probably be saving a lot of money if I just rented a car every time I took a trip. I don't regret buying it though.

I kept my 02 Maxima as a dd/beater. I had no plans on purchasing a new car until last year when I took the Maxima to NOLA and one of the ignition coils failed and the shop I went to in Mississippi screwed up and one of my coolant lines ripped and it was hemorrhaging coolant as I was driving down I-10. That added an extra day to my trip home. Then I realized what a bad idea it is to drive long distances in an old car even though the engine and transmission are fine. All of the other stuff attached to it are tired and old and unpredictable. I go camping in places where there isn't any cell reception a couple times a year and can't afford to be stranded.

I really wanted a TDI Sportwagen when I was looking but dieselgate happened and there weren't any new ones for sale. I was in love with the Mazda 3 hatchback, but I'm used to the power of a V6 so the slow 4 cylinder would have gotten boring fast. I didn't even know the FiST existed until I was looking through GTI reviews and came across a hot hatch article which had a FiST in it. I kept reading articles and watching Youtube videos about it and felt it was what I was looking for in my price range. Ford's promotions at the time sealed the deal. I've been in love with mine since, which is funny because I really hated how the Fiesta looked when it first came out. The new front fascia is so much better. If I could afford another $10k, I might be in a new Miata though because I love my mom's 06 and I really like the new one.

On on my second one now and I've drove a 06/07 WRX and a 2013 Speed 3 and those were fun to drive but the FiST in my opinion is like a gokart. Before I got my 2014 I had a 2011 Nissan Sentra SER so it was an upgrade form that.

Had a 1.0 ecoboost, loved the bones of the car. I decided to get the best version with no regrets!

Wanted a car I could tune. My uncle is a sale manager at a Ford dealership. I saw the fist on the showroom and said what about this one. He did his paperwork and got me into it with 0% financing. This is also my first manual car and oh boy have I been missing out. This wife likes it to which is a plus although she doesn't drive. Which is better if you ask me haha.

My VW Rabbit was getting pretty aged and I was looking for a fun car to replace it with. I'd driven the VW GTI and Golf R, Focus ST, and Suburu WRX and STI. I decided to give the Fiesta ST a chance too. Called the closest dealer, turns out they had one sitting on the lot that was scheduled to go to another dealer in two days. The car had been bought and the buyer had canceled. They said I could look at it before it shipped out. Went down there, convinced them to let me drive it, absolutely fell in love with the car. Hands down the most fun vehicle for the money. I knew I had to have it. Fast forward about two days and she was mine!

I bought a Fiesta in summer of 2012 because I fell in love with the driving dynamic of the car and the look and options. Before long, I wanted more power. Looked around to put some mods in it... but as you probably know, it's a bust for the base Fiesta. Then, they announced the FiST. Oh boy did I wanted that car. I went for a test drive in the first one my dealership got and it was everything I thought it would be and even better. Unfortunately, at that point in time the money was not there, so I had to wait.

In the meantime, I was able to test drive the competition. If I'm going to eventually change my car, might as well go for the best in the segment, maybe go a size bigger with more power... Well the best in the segment is the FiST.
Test drove the Focus ST, felt too big and just a Focus with more power.
Went for a GTI (current and previous gen), again just felt like a faster car without much more.
Mazdaspeed3: was probably the closest for me, but older and felt much bigger.
The WRX had the big advantage of AWD, but the fun factor wasn't there as much as the FiST.
I tried the Veloster Turbo, but that was probably the worst for "I'm just faster than the base model and nothing else", lots of turbo lag.

I eventually was able to get a used 2014 FiST with 42000km for a good deal and that's easily the best and most impressive car I ever drove.* All of those cars were really good, but I was always coming back to the FiST. On paper, I wanted to go for the GTI. Then I drove it. Then I wanted the WRX. Then I drove it. Then I wanted an RS. Then I saw the price.

I don't understand how Ford managed to get everything so right for so cheap. I'm confident in what they can do with the new one coming in 2018, but boy would I love if they made a Fiesta RS (and yes I want AWD with around 250hp)

*I never drove a Ferrari, GTR or the likes

I was in need of a new car, as my 2006 Subaru Impreza was starting to show some age (cracks in the gaskets, transmission issues, eating alternators for some odd reason). I had been all over the place in terms of what I wanted, and my final 3 were pretty evident of that. The 2017 Impreza was the "do-it-all" choice. The Honda HR-V was the "practical, maybe starting a family before I pay this car off" choice. The FiST was the fun choice, although still practical. I actually liked the HR-V a lot. The Impreza was just meh, plus the dealers were asking about $25k for them....aka WRX money. I had basically eliminated the Fiesta ST from contention because it won't fit my snowboard, won't be great in the snow, and I thought it was a little too small in general.

Then my brother bought one a few months back and it was a blast. I determined that I could get snow tires and a roof rack and get over it, because it was just too fun. Plus it's still practical and great on gas.

Eventually I decided hey I'm 25 so if I don't get a fun car now, I may not get one until I'm double this age or more, and I went for it. And here I am.

Oddly

The FiST was my dream machine from 2014 when I drove one and a Focus ST. The torque steer turned me off on the Focus so it was an easy choice. Was 2016 when I could actually make a move to get one. What I wanted was a white no options car. Ended with a White Platinum with a moonroof, cool! 2nd week I owned it we went to the Tail of the Dragon. Month later it was complete. Resonator delete, Sound symposer delete, OCC and little extra oomph of the Mountune MP215. So I now have a grocery getter, grandkid hauler, long trip road/camping vehicle, interstate cruiser, town driving, economy cruiser and E. TN mountain road speedster. Did one 4500 mile camping trip already, great road car! All of this in one car! Perfect for my needs! Oh, and affordable!
