Is a real anti-lag system too impractical/destructive for a street driven FiST?

Would one be replacing turbos and catcons/downpipes on a monthly (or maybe even more frequent) basis with a real, race based anti-lag system??

Would it be so bad that one could not even 'write out' all of the CELs/DTCs it would cause?

Or are some on here actually running them on not exclusively trailered, not full race cars?

It's not needed for our cars, as the turbo is so small.

Though a true anti-lag system is really hard on the turbo, it wouldn't be advised for a true daily driver.

I was inferring it's use on some of the crazy HUGE, BIG boost/hp setups some people are going to nowadays, and NOT the stock, or even most of the smaller aftermarket kits out there.

Anti-Lag works by dumping raw fuel into the turbo and igniting it. The resulting explosions eats the turbine blades. For street use, I am pretty sure you would piss off everyone around you when the system is active. They are terribly loud and shooting fire out the exhaust would be a great reason for the authorities to pay you a visit.

While they are bad ass, they have no place on the street.

I'd worry about the internals of the engine going to shit before an antilag system blowing up the turbine with a HUGE turbo CRAZY BOOSZZTTTSZZZZ for our 1.6 liter.

Yes, I know how they work, and I know about the; shotgun blasts, and flames out the tailpipe, etc.

I was just wondering if anyone on here has used one, given just how GONZO (and that's a COMPLIMENT, NOT a 'dis'!! [thumb]) many on here are about chasing ultimate power out of this engine platform, with the biggest snail they can put on them, costs be damned! ;)

I had entered "anti lag" into our search and it returned all these forum posts and threads (linked below)...But in all fairness I've been around the forum for a few years and remembered this topic had been previously discussed and though it might be helpful to find it for you guys...

There was a Fiesta R5 that competed last year at NEFR. I believe Block's Fiesta RS was probably really close to WRC spec when he last contested a full season (2013). Details are always a little vague on the open cars. I don't know if it was a WRC Fiesta with different tuning, restrictors, or something else to balance performance. It didn't really matter, it just put the Fiesta into the trees faster than a regular Fiesta.

It didn't really matter, it just put the Fiesta into the trees faster than a regular Fiesta.
The last time I was involved with U.S. stage rallying (~2004), SCCA was still the sanctioning body controlling the sport, and real, full sequential gearboxes were VERBOTEN, but ironically, the inlet restrictors were LARGER (opening size) than the WRC mandated size at that time.

I guess that one in the pic above would be Rally America legal now, and can maybe even run a smaller inlet restrictor to boot??
(I have not looked at their rules/regs lately.)
