Hey all! I am insured with Nationwide, and just my policy automatically renewed for September, but with an increase of over $60/month on my monthly premium. I'm over 25 years old and my driving record is spotless. However, on my billing statement I see this:

Your premium has changed
As of September 01, 2016, the following changes have been made to your

  • Cost to repair one or more make/models insured has increased

Has anyone else dealt with this? Is the FiST becoming more expensive to insure? I hope this doesn't start to get ridiculous like STis or Evos.

I had a multi-car discount that was removed for unknown reasons. Either way I need to have a discussion with them.

With insurances the best way to keep the cost down is shop around. Takes you 1 hour of time and you can save tons calling other providers. Worse case you already have the lowest.

Yep, call around. Just don't call that annoying, white-as-a-ghost-skinned, fugly thing in those annoying commercials!

Just my $.02 opinion. Plus I'm grumpy this morning ;(

Please let me know who you guys are insuring with. When shopping in February after I bought my FiST, the cheapest I could find was Nationwide at $130/month but now it's $190. :(

I had a increase as well for my new policy. I was like, "what the heck is this?", called and found no answer as to why. I have a pretty good driving record but mine only went up $20 to $179/month. I've had my same progressive policy for close to 12 years now. I'm on a budget so this kinda gave me a slight headache and irritability but hey, at least it isn't a terribly expensive increase. So I think they are rising for sure, although they won't get near a STI or EVO.

Looks like Geico is gonna be my best bet, but it will be the same as before the price increase with Nationwide. What a freaking ripoff these companies are.

I'm 33 with a decent driving record and my premium is around $67 a month on a brand new '16 (just added yesterday, so as current as you can get) on a 100/300 $500 deductible policy with Safeco. But I also have a multi car discount and combined homeowners discount.

my friends mother is a broker and shops 10 or more carriers that are admitted in my state. you will find a good deal. geico and nationwide were high when I got quotes from them.

currently im with safeco. their website is safeco.com

I do switch carriers often, every year when im up for renewal its time to shop again.

Wow, that's crazy...

I go through an independent agency that uses different providers instead of directly through one company, might want to look into one of those if you have something like that local to you. Not sure if you own a home, but you are going to have the cheapest rates combining policies. Or if you rent, I think adding a renters policy before I owned a home actually decreased my net premium...but I don't remember exactly. Still, $310/month is insane.

I had this issue with State Farm. I had been with them for years but they want over 100 a month now. I'm 33, perfect driving record, and no accidents.

Progressive 6 month renewal I just paid $429 for 6 months. 500 collision 250 comp. I emailed state farm on renewal time just because I like the guy and he quoted $697.

I have State Farm and have had the same agent and been with them since I was 16. I'm now 26 and have had the Fiesta ST since I was 25. I was paying $120ish for my 13 year old car that I swapped for the ST right around the time I turned 25. I'm now at $103 with full coverage $500 deduct on a brand new 2016. Good driving record and discount for also having renters insurance. I got a quote from Geico and it was cheaper, but I don't know how they are to deal with in the event you need to claim. State Farm is easy and I've never had issues. I wouldn't go with any cheaper local type options. My mom's got got hit by a guy that had local insurance and they absolutely drug their feet on getting anything at all done. I can only imagine if you are the policy holder what they may do.

im curious if those of you that are paying high insurance premiums.. do you also have low credit scores? I ask because I have heard that insurance companies put credit score in front of driving records when they quote insurance.

I held off for a long time. Again I liked my agent and his service. At the end of the day when were $270 apart over 6 months I'll take my chances. I have friends who have had progressive and seemed to be happy with them when they needed it.

I had considered this as my credit isn't the greatest. However it has improved fairly significantly in the last year and State Farm was still increasing.
